I BELIEVE THIS STATEMENT WILL FINALLY END THE FUEDING ONCE AND FOR ALL OVER WHICH VAN HALEN WAS BETTER, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN DAVE IS THE GREATEST, HERE IS THE ULTIMATE REASON AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT JUST CAME TO ME WHILE SITTING ON THE COUCH WATCHING THE MTV AWARDS AND THINKING HOW MUCH OF A ROCK STAR DAVE LOOKED WHILE SAMMY LOOKED LIKE A CIRCUS CLOWN!
ALL OF THE GREATEST ROCK BANDS OR PERFORMERS IN HISTORY HAVE PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO MOST OF THE PARENTS WHOSE CHILDREN WERE LISTENING TO THE BANDS AT THE TIME. THINK ABOUT IT.
BEATLES
ROLLING STONES
ELVIS
LED ZEPPLIN
BLACK SABBATH
AC/DC
ETC. AND THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN WITH DAVE HAD MY PARENTS FEARING I MAY BE "RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL", BUT WHO IN THE FUCK EVER GOT INTIMIDATED BY VAN HAGAR WITH "WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE?"
VAN HAGAR HAD A FEW GOOD MOMENTS, BUT MOST OF ALL THEY PLAYED POP MUSIC FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. I AM JUST SAYING TO CATERGORIZE VAN HAGAR WITH NSYNC AND THE BACKSTREET BOYS. VAN HAGAR WAS JUST ANOTHER BAND AND SOLD ALOT OF ALBUMS JUST LIKE THE BOY BANDS LISTED, BUT VAN HALEN CHANGED THE FUCKING WORLD!!!! AND LET ME TELL YOU THIS, IF I HAD A DAUGHTER WHO WANTED TO GO SEE VAN HALEN BACK THEN I WOULD HAVE SAID "NO FUCKING WAY" THAT BAND IS TO WILD AND CRAZY. NOW 1986 VAN HALEN WAS FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY WITH ALL THE LOVE SONGS AND BOZO SINGING WITHOUT HIS MAKEUP ON, THAT FUCKING PERM HEAD! I KNOW TRUE VAN HALEN FANS WILL GET WHAT I'M SAYING , FOR YOU SAMMY FANS, I DON'T HATE YOU, I JUST WANT YOU TO GO HIDE IN A CLOSET!
IF VAN HALEN DOES NOT GET DAVE BACK THEN THEY ARE DEAD TO ME, AND LONG LIVE DAVID LEE ROTH!!!!

Wise-ass, tell me about "frightening" rock'n'roll which was made during the years 1986-1996.
And don;t tell me about GNR, they got famous with Sweet Child Of Mine, which I remember 15 year old chicks dancing to, while holding their teddy bears.
Poison, White Lion and Warrant were big at that time. Metallica released the Black album.

The only trully frightening, lock-up your daughter kinda stuff during that time would probably have been Marilyn Manson or something. Do you trully believe VH could have gone in that direction?
Also, do you call "Just Like Paradise" or "Goin Crazy" stuff that would be "daughter endangering"?

Get real. The times were a-chaging. VH evolved and stayed huge.
If Dave had stayed they would have done BALLADS too.

I will go along with this part of the quote. "Damn Good Times" would have been the type of "ballads" they would have done though. IMO

Why are you SCREAMING AT US?? Dude, I am a Dave fan, but I realize one thing that you don't: You aren't going to change anyone's opinion. Give it a rest and stop throwing gasoline on the fire.
Van Halen without the original 4 is just not Van Halen.

Well, Kerry Wheeler makes a nice attempt at saying Sam should be the guy in lieu of Dave by contending that Sam is more family-friendly ala enstynk and the back door boys. Too bad his attempt at humor/reverse psychology is as transparent as a bride's nightie. Nice try, rothbot!

You ain't gonna change peoples minds. What you speak of is a matter of personal preference. You prefer Dave era because it was the original, because of the chemistry, etc, etc. Thats the same reason some prefer Van Hagar. It depends on one's definition of chemistry, and attitude. It's different from person to person, and there is no point that can be brought up to change it.
Some people prefer chicks in leather, some prefer chicks in laungerie (i doubt i spelled that right) some who like all eras, may prefer chicks in anything. (or nothing) Get the picture. It's all about taste.

Here's all the proof you need of why Roth rules over Sammy. Let's say Sam and Dave did a tour with Van Halen. Ed has been sick, so we know he probably won't want to play two whole sets.

So when it has to be decided which tunes are going to be represented, which ones would it be?

Probably mostly Roth tunes.

Even Eddie would pick mostly Roth tunes, at least he did on the VH III tour.

Yes but the reason is that some of that stuff hasn't been played live in over two decades!

Uhh, no ... Eddie wanted to play alot of the more ballad type stuff when Roth was still in the band and Dave wanted nothing to do with it. He would not sing those songs. Dave has stated this, and Eddie has stated this.

Thats what Eddie said when Sammy was in the band is that Sammy would sing stuff other than just party rock which is what Dave really only wanted to do. I actually like the party formula best but oh well. So, I do not believe Dave would have ever sang one of those type songs. Has he ever sang a ballad in his life?

Guys, just remember Dave did "Just Like Paradise," and come on, I dig the Vai shit, but that tune is so weak and gay it's not funny. I mean Dave obviously didn't mind the keyboard ballady stuff. Shit he even used keys on rockin' tunes like "A Lil' Ain't Enough." That's almost like Ed putting a keyboard on "Poundcake" or "Judgement Day." Come on, admit Dave did some weak ass stuff with keys, because he did. I know you guys can do it! Of course Ed got too ballady, but my god so did Dave. I cringe when I hear "Just Like Paradise."

Actually GARY picked most of the Sam/Dave era songs. He felt more comfortable singing them.
