Tonight I was watching Letterman and when they went to commercial break the band started playing "Finish What Ya Started". When they came back the guitar player was doing the solo...it was cool.

Anybody remember when Van Halen played the Late Show during the Balance tour? If I remember correctly they did "Not Enough".

Yeah man, Not enough was the song. Why they picked that one, is still a mystery. LOL. Still good to see Van Halen on TV for any reason. Letterman is a fan, so that doesn't surprise me that they were playing VH tonight. Good call man. Out

Hmm...that's odd...why would they play that?

I tell ya, I watched that Roth performance on Letterman where he did "Tell the Truth" and Letterman seemed to love Dave. I've never seen Letterman laugh that much...he was really enjoying Roth as a guest. It's nice to know he liked Van Hagar as well...Letterman seems to be a cool guy.

Was that the whole band or just Ed and Sammy playing Not Enough? I saw it, but that was a long time ago.

Well I watch Letterman most of the week if it's all new and one major reason I like him is b/c the band seems to play a VAN HALEN tune MOST EVERY SHOW! So Dave's gotta be a huge fan!!!

The whole band played "Not Enough", the reason they played that song was because that was their single at the time.

if you guys will remember, after playing not enough, the band broke into an ad hoc version of jump as the show went into commercial. when they came back, ed was playing this wicked solo and the crowd was going solo, and sammy was jumping around like crazy.

when they stopped playing, dave was saying, "man" and "oh my" then he said, "you know i was watching that and thinking two things", "first, who knew eddie could play guitar" (met with a wild response from paul, his band, and the crowd, and then he said, "and sammy, sammy is as old as i am" (commenting about sammy jumping around), and dave said, "we're the same age, and it's all i can do to zip my fly"

it was funny..i have it on tape. one of my favorite vh appearances, even if it was with sammy.

Dave Letterman is very cool. It's a shame you can't really get his show in the UK. If you check his top ten lists, they've got several Van Halen mentions

Yeah, Lead Synth has a list of VH in the Top 10 list at her site. My favorite is like Top 10 Ways for Dole to still Win the Election. I think it was like num 7, anyway....

"Convince Van Halen to put their differences aside and make some bitchin music."

    .... I believe that's what it was.

Letterman is the man. And I like how the CBS Orchestra plays Van Halen tunes often.

I remember watching one of his old "Late Night" shows on NBC when Eddie sat in with Paul and the band for the whole show.
