Bootlegging is a copyright infringement, and therefore subject to criminal and civil lawsuits. Inciting those to bootleg is conspiracy to bootleg. Encouraging others to break the law is morally wrong. We all know the irreparable damage caused by fans taping shows. The artists and performers suffer. The promoters and record companies suffer. In the end, it is we, the fans, that must pay for their suffering, which in turn means WE suffer.

I always wondered about that policy. Even the finest stereo microphone into a DAT, held in place for 2+ hours recording a show is certainly not gonna be good enough to pose a threat to ticket or record sales. So what could it possibly hurt? Hell, if it's something someone wants to do, just let 'em do it. I can understand a band's problem with Napster, but a concert bootleg? I don't get it.

when you get a boot of that quality, it's an inside job, and i'll bet the band in question gets some cash....

I've got a MD recorder that I'll try to use to tape the MN show. I've never tried that before, so we'll see how it goes. I'll probably sound like shit, but who knows? Anyone want to volunteer to host the MP3s?
