I'm a frequent visitor to the forums. I just browse, don't usually post. I'm a fan. VH any way shape or form. I've seen them with all three singers, I saw the Sam and Dave show. If VH was in town and did two shows, I had tickets for both shows. I've driven hundreds of miles for shows, not in town.
I'VE HAD ENOUGH.
I'm tired of getting little miniscule bits of information.
And having to wait months for that.
I'm convinced there is nothing that I can do as a fan to get someone to talk.
I'm tired of checking out the posts, Sammy sucks, Dave sucks, it's Alex's fault, Eddie's sick. ENOUGH.
It's just so negative in here.
Come on boys get your act together, do something, say something, don't do it for the fans. Do it for your self respect. It's like your hiding in caves.
I rather be browsing the posts, checking out opinions on the new album. Where they played last night. What was there set list?
As a fan, I'm tired, I've had enough. You've turned your fans into hate groups. I just sit and shake my head and some of the posts.
This is what it means to be a Van Halen fan?

I know the feeling. Take a break, read a book, turn off the computer for a while, take the phone off the hook and just kick back for a while.
Nothing on these board is that earth-shattering.
Gosh, remember in 85 when Roth left the band? How did we as fans survive without the internet to get our news and then use it to bitch about?
Check back in a couple of weeks. Maybe something new will have happened. If not, oh well. It's only rock-n-roll.

Yeah, pretty soon this site will be down to two people, one Sam fan and one Dave fan arguing over which VH sold more records.

Hi... I'm aaaaa Bob and I'm an alc... errrr I mean Van Halen fan. I've been addicted to this band since 1978...
I popped my cherry to Unchained.
Proposed to my wife while kneeling in the bed of my 64 Chevy Step-Side with SO This is Love blastin out the speakers.
Jump was the Theme Song to Betty and I's wedding. Brought a tear to grampa Buzz when Betty tripped walking down the eisle right in the middle of Ed's solo.
Grandma Ethyl even sang Runnin With The Devil on the Karoke at the reception.
Our first dog we got we named Eruption... we loved that song but it was mainly cause of what the dog did if ya gave him a beer.
Our first born son was named Diamond Dave. We bought him his 1st assless chaps for his 2nd birthday. And boy was we proud to send him to school the 1st day of kindergarten in his very own spandex outfit Betty made just like on the 1983 tour.
Well the marriage got a little rough in 1985 when Dave left the band... but those new love songs Sammy sung got Betty hotter an a prom queen in July. Which produced our loving daughter named Cabo Kathleen.
Well we muddled along raising the kids and rockin our asses off in that 64 Chevy truck. The marriage got rough again in 1996 but we was able to salvage it thanks to the timely release of BOV 1. I still remember Betty drunk as a skunk dancing on the hood of that dang truck... doin dirty dancing to Can Get This Stuff No More!!! Hot Dang!!!
Well couple years later... we'll call em the dark ages... III had come out and one night we was bar-b-q'in some hot dawgs over the burn barrel with III blastin outta the speakers of that tired ole 64 Chevy truck when all of a sudden How Many Say I came on... Well it was a sad moment but Ole Eruption would just a get to howlin during that song some somethin terrible... well he'd had 5-6 beers already and sad to say the poor ole dog had his final Eruption. I buried him with his chewwed up 8 track of Diver Down...
Right as the song ended... Betty the love of my life stood up and looked at the kids and says I'm outta here and sick and damn tired of this life what do you say kids... How Many Say Aye?
Well I'll be damned but she packed up all the albums, cassetes, 8 tracks, and Cd's. Loaded up all our belongin's in the back oh that truck from our Red and White stripped Double-Wide and just left me standing there with a dead dog and burnt weannies on the burn barrel. As she pulled outta the driveway she threw the III cd and her last words were "Fuck this shit!!" All I saw was taillights and Britney Spears blastin out my precious speakers...
Well that was 3 years ago and here I sit in front of my radio shack computer spending my days arguing Dave -vs- Sam on the internet and masterbating all night to internet porn.
The final straw came yesterday when a big city lawyer feller showed up at the door and told me I gotta re-paint the double-wide cause my red and white stripe pattern was a violation of Edward Van Halen's copyrighted design...
So I've had it... I quit... This was the final straw... fairwell sweet Betty and Diamond Dave and sweet sweet daughter Cabo Kathleen!!! I dug me a hole right next to ole Eruption's grave and when I sign off I'm burying this dang Radio Shack computer and that stupid copy of III. Then I'm headin off to the Fair Grounds to catch Lynyrd Skynyrd with my 2 new lighters for Freebird....
Local news stations report a local man was seen standing on the fence of the hog pens at the County fair last night. Witnesses report he had two lit lighters in his hands and was screamin "This is for you... Betty!!!!!" Then he threw himself into approximately 25 sq yards of pig manure. The county Sheriff speculated that the methane buildup in the manure ignighted from the lighters. The resulting explosion coinsided with the encore song of the DLR Band playing the Van Halen Classic "Jump". Concert attendees thought the explosion was part of the show and were shocked to find out that local resident Bob Waldo had died in the explosion. An un-named friend of Bob's reported that Bob just hadden't been the same since 1999 when Betty left him...Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

I don't think people would be getting pissed of at VH like this if they didn't keep feeding us bullshit like "you'll be hearing from us soon" every six months or so.
Just say you have no idea when or if you'll EVER tour or put out an album again, or say you're retired, say SOMETHING.
I say that all the loyal fans who buy album after album, go see tour after tour absolutely deserve at least a "goodbye" or SOMETHING.
Either that or you don't expect all those same fans to support you if and when you ever do something again.
Does VH owe me a personal phone call to explain? No.
Does VH owe their fan base at least a press release that says something concrete? Damn right they do.
The band always said they wanted to leave the fans wanting more. Okay, we want more. You left us that way. You OWE us either more, or a statement saying that it's over.
[ November 07, 2002, 07:37 AM: Message edited by: Pacfanweb ]I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

I'm a long time lurker on these boards myself. I've spent many hours over the last few years reading the latest news and rumours. I still find myself checking the Van Halen Newsdesk on a semi-regular basis, hoping something new has been posted.
I don't honestly expect to ever see anything more than a few token shows here and there in the future. Health problems, ego, lack of motivation, or whatever the reason for the lack of action over the past few years, I've come to the point where I figure it's their lives, let them live it how they want.
The fans helped put them where they are today, but I don't think they owe us anything. We've got the albums and the memories to show for the money and fame we've given these guys. I've had jobs that I grew to hate...maybe that's what's happened here. If so, I can't blame them for packing it in.
If they get their act together someday, great. I'll be at the head of the line to buy the new CD and tickets to the concert. Until then, I hope they're enjoying themselves doing whatever they're doing.

Pop just needs to retire. He’s not healthy enough to coach anymore. If you’re having a stroke, whether it’s mild old or not, it’s time to let it go.
