Is it time to let go of the idea of a reunion..........

Allright guys, even though it hurts me to say this, I think it is time to put to bed the idea that Dave will come back. In his prime Dave was hands down the best lead singer in rock n roll. Dave has pretty much lost the razor-sharp vocals that made him a true bad ass. I don't think any amount of voice lessons or the like are going to bring the scream back in his voice. Believe me, I would be the first to embrace a reunion but the quality will not be the same. Take "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" for example.........

I'm starting to let go of the idea of a reunion, but not at all for that reason. Dave's problem is that he's insisting on singing in the higher register, something that he almost never did with Van Halen but started to do on Your Filthy Little Mouth, and did more of on DLR Band. But his voice is still as good as ever, provided he sings where he should. I saw him just last November singing classic Van Halen, and I swear his voice sounded terrific. He truly is in the shape of his life.

I'm letting go of a reunion because Van Halen appears not to want it. If they wanted it by now they would have done what they had to do. They hate Dave with a passion.

I have not seen Dave live since 1994 so I have to respect the opinion that he can still hit the high note at times. I can only go by the recorded material that I have heard in the past 10 years and there are definitely time when he is obviously trying to stretch his vocal chords and the are not responding like they used to. Don't get me wrong, he is still a hell of an entertainer and can still sing well within his vocal range, but if you are saying that he can still scream like back in the 70's and early 80's you are kidding yourself.

I'm not trying to bash Dave but reality is reality.

I agree with the point that the boys just don't see eye to eye. If they did then we'd obviously have something new to talk about. [img]graemlins/sleep.gif[/img]

Maybe your asshole is the thing that has been stretched and not responding, but Dave's voice is perfect. I saw him live last year and he has not lost a step either with his voice, his physique (well maybe a little hair off the top, not much though)or his rock N roll attitude.
