What about the contests theres been...a lost weekend with van halen....i read of one where if you won you went to 5150 for the day and hung out with the band etc....then recently when vh was on mtv live at the ten spot...if you were the lucky caller...an evh wofgang and guitar lessons from ed...how cool would that be!?!? all im sayin is there should be more contests like that....so i can win one!!!!

The winner of the day at 5150 wrote a story about it and posted a few pitures on a web site. I dont remember what web site maybe someone here knows were its located. It was pretty cool to read however.

If I won a guitar and a guitar lesson from EVH I think I'd just take the guitar and leave. I respect the guy too much to put him through that kind of aggravation.

There's also an article about the contest winner in either the first or sencond issue of "The Inside". I think the contest was around the time they were making OU812.

Doh! Forgot to mention that I was talking about the 5150 contest here.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Yeah, her name was Kim Musgrove and she won by naming Sammy's album, I Never Said Goodbye. It was during the making of OU812 and I remember reading that they let her hear some early mixes of the album, after assuring that she didn't have any recording equipment with her.

LOL - As a matter of fact it was Mitch Malloy, I heard the day was cut short after he kept fucking around with all of the equiptment. They had to have the entire complex fumagated when he left to get the smell of Old Spice and hair spray out.

Maybe they should have let her record them, if the "early mixes" sounded better than the final mix did. One of these days I might just feed OU812 through Cool Edit or something and improve the sound myself
