If VH was smart ---

... now is the perfect time for an announced reunion of the original band.

I'm no marketing guy, but if I were them I would:
(1) announce the reunion by the end of the month
(2) market a boxed set of rarities from the classic VH days (perhaps, a higher quality version of Blueprint, the live Oakland tapes, etc.) for sale by Christmas with promises of more to come
(3) release new CD by April and
(4) headline a summer tour.

Of course, if I were VH, I would never have hired Ray Danniels, screwed up the 1996 reunion, or picked anyone from Extreme to join the band.

Personally, I would love to see this. The main problem I see is releasing the box set (no, that's not the problem, I LOVE that part) along with "promises of more to come". VH isn't made up of the type of personalities that should be promising product any earlier than about a week before its release. Just going on past behavior, they're too volatile to be promising projects six months in advance; that can only blow up in their faces.
