Ed cancels because of health?

I immediately starting thinking the worst when all this cancellation stuff came up. Think about it, why haven't we seen the man in a year? I hope he is 100% healthy and that he's avoiding the convention due to media pressure, etc. and not his health.

If he was in a hospital, news would have leaked for sure.

However I was concerned on Wednesday when I saw in the news that some hip replacement patients were given recalled hip joints on all surgeries after Oct. 1999.

I hope Ed didn't get a bum wheel.

I can't see it being a health reason. His name was on the Peavey site yesterday, and then removed right away. It's not like his health is likely to have changed that quickly. If his health was poor, I'm sure he would've known for awhile that a NAMM appearance was out of the question, and Peavey would never have put his name on the NAMM attendance site.

Like everyone though, I do hope that Eddie's health is up to speed.

No this is purely my opinion that Ed's health is not an issue at all. I still think he's coming tomorrow, just not going to hang and chat with the public.

Ummm... Hawk, where did you here this??? I put these things in every day and I have not heard a word about a recall! Plus, I highly doubt they would, "open him up again," for this reason. Only way they would do this is if there was a sterility problem (i.e., infection), or breakdown of the plastic (poly) prosthesis. Anyway, I highly doubt this senario.

P.S., If this is true, we will not see our hero on stage for a while!! MO.

van-halen .com states ed cancelled do to scheduling conflicts but he will be making a video announcement at the peavey booth. could this be it?

After all this, its quite possible "seriousjuju"'s little-noticed reply might be the information we've been waiting all this time for.

If Ed had to cancel for conflict reasons (yeah, right), why did he still take the time to do a video if he's not about to use his new stuff on tour?

Sounds to me like he's trying to avoid a media onslaught and still tell what he was going to tell. It also sounds like VH was trying to keep this announcement a big secret until NAMM-informed VH fans starting spilling the info the fansites. Then, they had to do damage control when he was listed as scheduled to appear and taken off the list. That's probably the only reason we know about this video.

SOUNDS TO ME like this is a legitimate shot for "the news". A word of caution, though: I get the feeling he might just say something like "we are in the studio, and the final announcement will be at [such and such time]". Nevertheless, this sounds like its going to be positive.

lets not forget that eddie is not the only member of van halen that is scheduled to be a NAMM. there happens to be one michael anthony attending......which i might add, is scheduled to be at his booth at the exact same time the video by ed is scheduled to be played. michael anthony has been a lifelong member of van halen, just like ed and al, and i don't beleive for as minute that michael is the spineless puppet some have said him to be...why can't michael announce the news. why not? it takes the heat of ed, al and dave and the questions that are bound to be asked. with michael announcing the news, it puts the news of the reformed van halen as the thing, not have ed and dave made up. anything is possible.
