David Lee Roth is a feral beast!!!!!! He has the hugest voice I have ever heard--it seems to fill the hall and get right inside your ears, and when he hums and moans in falsetto, every hair on your neck crackles with electricity. Roth makes up as many tricks as he's learned and will do almost anything to drive an audience into a frenzy...both more primitive and more modern...perfectly mirrors the dialogue between tradition and innovation...a strange mixture of sugar and salt...
Diamond Dave and his group can sound exceptionally down-home, and they can swing, jump-blues style...most of the time, Roth struts and howls, Ray Luzier bashes relentlessly, and Bart Walsh, his amp turned up 'til his tone cracks, distorts, & feeds back, hits violent power chords right on the beat...
I still marvel at his craft, his cunning, his humor, his funk, his finesse, his sincerity, his world view.
I recollect one of David Lee Roth's acoustic slide intros to the SWEET TOOTH BOOGIE," I got somethin' to tell you, baby, make the hair raise on your head...I got somethin' to give ya, honey, make the springs tremble on your bed."

Dave is cool, yes indeed. Lost interest in solo after ALAE though. Oops!

LOL.. yeah, I was. Loons stole my club card, though. If he keeps 'praising' Dave in this way, you guys'll have to print up a permanent one for him.

I dig grainy, harsh, and raspy rasping voices like HOWLIN' WOLF'S, Lightnin' Slim's, or Sonny Boy Williamson II's. And the cat who often sounds vocally like a hurricane bein' forced through a straw, Diamond David Lee Roth!!!!!!

Loons, which tunes are you talking about? Specifically, I mean. The closest to rasping Dave gets is at the begining of The Fullbug, to my ears. That hardly sounds raspy, though.

Only Loons would quote himself.
Well, loons and Glenn, which says something about the mental stability of both"Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."
