I was going to post what I saw, but since someone else already did at vh@yahoogroups, I'll just cut and paste his instead:

"Just got back from the Tribe of Judah show. I'm too tired to put any detail into this (I have to work in the morning...ugh), but here's the highlights relating to VH:

TOJ played "Once".

Towards the end of the set, Michael Anthony took the stage with bass in hand and *sang* "Somebody Get Me A Doctor." Just like on the "3" tour. They wouldn't let him leave the stage, and also
brought up Nuno for a show closing "Rock 'n' Roll."

That was the TOJ show, but there was more to come.

Following that was the band "Metal Shop", a tribute to 80's metal, consisting of at least two of the members of the Atomic Punks (Ralph, the singer, and their current guitarist who David Lee Roth has yet to steal.) After a couple of songs, Michael Anthony came BACK on stage and jammed on "Unchained" and "Hot for Teacher." It
was wonderful. The guys in Metal Shop seem like awesome, funny guys, and of course Mikey was having a blast.

A good time was had."

He forgot to mention they also did "You Really Got Me".
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

-George Carlin 1937 - 2008

I got to the Viper Room at about 7:50 PM, walked thru the front door and watched TOJ do their sound check, "Left For Dead." After sound check, I talked to Gary ... he said he has not talked to Eddie since Eddie and Valerie's separation.

As was mentioned above Mike sang lead on "Somebody Get Me A Doctor" and also jammed on Zeppelin's "Rock 'n' Roll."

Also, as mentioned above, Mike joined "Metal Shop" for "Unchained" and "Hot For Teacher."

Later in the Metal Shop show they brought-up Paul Gilbert (from Mr. Big) and Billy Sheehan and Gary Cherone. They played "You Really Got Me" and then, under pressure from both the guys on-stage and the audience, Gary sang "More Than Words." He tried to get Nuno Bettencourt to join him on stage for "More Than Words," but Nuno would not do it.

Also, (for those that may not know) Ray Luzier, David Lee Roth's drummer, is also the drummer for "Metal Shop."

Overall, it was a great fuckin' show!

Also, "Tribe of Judah" rocks! And, Gary Cherone is a hellava nice guy!

Sounded like a fun time!

Seems every member or ex-member of VH is making the rounds....except Alex. I wonder what the hell he has been up to.

Why would TOJ play "Somebody Get Me A Doctor", "Unchained", and "Hot For Teacher"?

Better yet, why would Mike be there?

This is too freaking weird. Leads me to believe that the next time we will see VH will be at the R&R HOF, with all 3 ex singer's in attendance. Which of course would be the end of VH as we know/knew it.

Metal Shop played Unchained and HFT. At this point, I'm all for David Lee Ralph to be VH's next lead singer. Hell, he mentioned that Ed asked him if he could write or if he just did the cover thing. Who knows...

Also, Russ Parrish ("Ratchett," lead guitarist) said to Ralph, that Ralph was still pissed that he did not get the lead singer job with Van Halen, that Gary Cherone got the job instead. Russ called Ralph a "chubby version of David Lee Roth." Ralph replied, "I'm not a chubby version of David Lee Roth, I'm a skinny version of Vince Neil!"

Lol! Sad thing is that Ralph is more David Lee Roth than David Lee Roth is. And if you've heard the Punks live, then you know what I mean.

No, I don't. Sad thing that you feel that way, redfire. I've seend the Punks live, they're very good but Ralph is no Dave.

Back to the Metal Shop. It's an awesome band and funny as hell! You definitely have to see them if you're in town on Monday night. Thanks for all the reviews. Wish I were there.
