First, everything is all positive with Ed looking well in the NAMM video and Mikey's statements, but now I'm starting to feel like maybe the reunion with Dave isn't happening what with rumors over at VHND and stuff. I didn't like the comments on VH1 (lead singer killing machine) either. It's hard to stay positive for this long. I swear this band will be the death of me yet...

You know, this reminds me of the time between Balance and the announcement that Sammy was out of the band.

I remember they made some kind of a publicity appearance somewhere and said, "We are working on a new album." Then like a month later someone tells me, "Sammy got kicked out man!"

Talk about a night when the old blood pressure skyrocketed.

I will be bold and say that if Van Halen has recorded 6 or 7 tracks with Dave, then this gives us some reason to believe that the band members have been successful at solving differences and are at least trying work things out. Thus, I am inclined to believe a reunion will occur. Still, anything can happen for the worse. Ed and Dave may have given up on trying to work things out. Still one must think that a year and three months without any official news from the band is very odd, and may be grounds for suspicion that things are simply not working out between DLR and Ed, Al and Mike...

It is getting a bit nerve-racking! But who knows what the fuck these guys are up to! They are about the most unpredictable bunch of bastards around!

If we say they are not with DLR, it will most likely turn out they are and vica versa!

Who knows? - I'm beyond worrying about it anyway - they'll do whatever the want to do regardless of us - they've proved that to us time and time again.

the biggest thing is we all assume they started working early last year - what if they had a break 1st? didnt start tillafter summer perhaps?

Speculating, to be sure, but theres so much we just dont know yet.

trust me boys (and girls), if you get the mind set where you just don't care anymore... then you won't even think about it, much less worry they're not together... then, when it does happen, it'll all come back and you'll be going ape shit... i don't think about it during my day until i get on the net, and i have to make my rounds checking this site, vhnd, etc... other than that, VH doesnt cross my mind as far as what they're doing now... try it, it works...

Same here Deputy Van Halen. Although I do listen to classic VH on the way how from work. When I do I just think to myelf and say "I can't wait till this silence is over and Van Halen will kick ass once again."

So everyone says. But surely (given what Dave himself said) no one showed up to this thing without several lawyers in tow - who knows what kind of agreements were written into contracts. Of course we'd know sooner or later, but not necessarily 30 minutes after Eddie escorted him off the premises at 5150.

I do however still think the reunion is on

Have you ever had the kind of friend who would never commit to something? You know: "Dude, I'm gonna go see The Trip Morons at Club Lame on Friday, want to go with?" Response: "Uh, call me on Friday and I'll let you know." Always non-commital in case something better comes along.

As I see it, both sides in this are simply keeping their options open in this way. DLR doesn't want to commit because he doesn't trust the brothers after what happened in 96, and he may not like the control they might try to exert on him musically, lyrically, and in a business sense. The brothers want to make sure they can stand a long tour with the Diamond one, want to hear a lot of the voice to make sure it will stand up, etc. Nothing against MA, but he's just along for the ride, that is why he's the only one we've heard from.

Once both sides feel comfortable with their standing in the new 'partnership', we will have an announcement very quickly. When that will be, not even the protagonists themselves know.
