Just to show all the Dave-heads that it's not all bashing here...
I was checking out the Velvet Rope site and they're discussing who's the greatest frontman ever. And one person's name is coming up an awful lot. Just to clarify, these are for the most part, not Van Halen fans by any stretch of the imagination. These are music industry types and wannabies who usually just talk a bunch of crap about people.
Just thought it was interesting. Check it out:

Yep Dave in his prime wins hands down, no questions asked.

What about Freddie Mercury?
VHWalkathon - Project 316

EVH: The music is first and foremost. That's the way it's always been and that's the way it will always be. Because without the music, what is there? Nothing. There's nothing without the music. You can't even cop an attitude without the music (laughs).

What about him? Freddie was great too, shit lots of people were great! VH had an aura about them most bands did not though.

Personally I think Plant, Morrison and Jagger are more deserving candidates, but Dave is definitely in the Top 5 in my book.

1984 was the first concert I ever attended and Dave was in complete control. I went there to see Eddie because I played guitar, and at the time I thought that Dave was a goon. But, after that concert Van Halen was no longer just about Eddie's playing for me. Dave just mesmerized the entire place. He was the ultimate frontman, and I've seen Jagger live 3 times.

I just think it's cool that so many people acknowledge Dave even though there isn't much documentation of his VH years minus the 1984 videos. Shows you what an impact he made in his prime.

Propelled by a booming, muscular voice and the rhythmic drive of his sturdy Davesyckle guitar, Diamond Dave's music doesn't ask for attention, it commands it.

There was nothing like Dave during his Van Halen years! He was pretty damn good between 1986 and 1991 too.

Even DLR not in his prime is better then most. Are there even any decent frontmen out there today? If so, do they sing rock n roll?

There was a time when I liked Christie. To be fair, most of the peole have redeeming qualities. I mean I love my wife but she does things that piss me off. She has her own thoughts on how the world...
