This pairing was rumoured a couple of years back. At that time the idea of a reunion overshadowed its impact. With Dave in the midst of an amazing career comeback and Slash kind of floundering in terms of sales, this could be a very interesting combination. Slash isn't an Eddie clone, more the meat and potatoes type player as opposed to flash. Would probably get more mainstream press buzz than say George Lynch who isn't really known outside of hardcore rock guitar circles. I think musically Lynch would bring more to the table (just listen to his amazing self produced disc from '99 called 'Smoke This') but Slash would be a PR persons dream come true. What do you think?

Dave, and the same could be said of Sammy, are trapped by their pasts in VH. No one cares about any solo or guest collaborations. Sammy's 10/13 sold about 1,013 copies and DLR Band Album only made it to the shelfs in about 15 states. Planet US will be another bomb followed by a club tour. The fact of the matter is, they are both irrelevant without VH and VH tunes, outside of the forums, of course.

You haven't heard the audio from the Dave and Slash sessions? Dude, it's absolutely classic. Check it out on a file sharing program, or maybe somebody'll provide a link.

Slash & Izzy are busy jamming with Duff, Adler & Josh from Buckcherry...
Bring that shit on I say!! Q: Recording the album took so long your Australian tour last year was cancelled. What was it like in the studio? There's a history of tension between you and Eddie Van Halen...
DLR: It was like a stand off in a Chuck Norris movie. We each had the laser dot on everybody's forehead waiting for the other guy to blink. Except for Wolfie, he had a Super Soaker ...

Actually I think right before or right after the Van Halen best of thing came out, I saw an article in Guitar World where the rumor was that Slash, Tommy Lee and DLR were in talks about possibly starting a supergroup.
For unknown reasons this never came to fruition.
This would be bitchin if it ever did happen. What is understood, need not be discussed.
