A 'cure' is not gonna happen. There is too much money to be made in the 'treatment' of deadly disease and illness. Cures don't help to 'maximize profits'.

Drug companies would charge such an ungodly amount for a 'cure', so much that insurance companies would probably drop someone for it if they were given and treated with a cure.

I would think a cure for AIDS would occur before a cure for cancer. I have no doubt drug companies love diseases but when a continent such as Africa is being taken over by a disease surely humanity would have to step up.

I wish we didn't have to worry about whether the government holds us down with diseases. It shows the distrust we see in our own leaders. I hope these drug companies will step up and take an HONEST "big step" towards a cure.

I don't think it's the government which would suppress the cures but the drug companies themselves. They are the ones doing research and development and they could very easily keep quiet about breakthroughs. At one time, I did think it was the case that they intentionally did not bring cures to the table but now I'm not so sure.

The biggest reason would be that treatment is extremely expensive. Let's say that it's $50K-100K for chemo and/or radiation. That would be some big bucks for treatment which actually cures it. The drug companies could charge the same amounts and still be in the black. The insurance companies would still be obligated to pay if it stays in line with previous amounts. And cancer treatment has come a LONG way from the days 20 years ago when it was a death sentence if you were diagnosed with it.

While I do believe that drug and insurance companies are money grubbing SOB's which take advantage of people, I don't think there is any great conspiracy to hide cures.

My cousin is an M.T.(basically he does all kinds of blood work, and studies the components of diseases such as cancer and AIDS), and he has said for years that if the government wanted to, they have the resources to cure cancer and AIDS. He says they won't because they would lose all kinds of money they get for research.

I think the profits from your average cancer patient hover around 300K.

But with so many other diseases like Parkinson's or Alzheimer's, they could use it towards finding treatments and cures for something else so that wouldn't make sense.

Just another thought, Bill Gates and his wife Melinda are very heavily involved independently using their own money vaccinating and treating the people of Africa. If there was something out there, I would bet he has the resources and dough to find it and make it available as far as curing AIDS goes. And he hasn't yet.

The cure for AID's isn't in the hands of those that need it for the same reason there isn't a cure for sickle cell anemia.

Draw your own conclusion from that statement.

He was talking about the research money the government gets for cancer and AIDS. Not research money for other diseases.

Yes, I know that about Bill Gates and his wife too. Think about this for a minute, why would the government tell anyone that they have resources to cure diseases if they're getting research money? How do any of us know for sure exactly what that money is being used for?

Do you really believe it's a race issue? I would truly hate to think there is any racial motivation preventing a cure. I mean, they haven't found a cure for cancer and it effects every race.

Race, gender, sexual orientation...and it has nothing to do with compassion. Those tending the purse strings tying things up are blissfully free of compassion. They are in love with allowing certain interests to make shitloads of money from the misery of others, however.

The only reason the United States is still dependant on fossil fuels is because our government hasn't come up with a way to tax sunlight.
