F****'d Up Thing You Seen?
In light of the Chris Benoit thing, my wife and I last night were talking and we both have seen some realy fucked up things in our lives.. What is the most Messed up thing you've ever witnessed,, this can be funny as well as sad..
I remember in Junior High there was a kid that was making fun of another kid, and after a few days of this kid poking the back of his neck with a sharpened pencil, the one who was getting poked stood up in front of a silent class and just exploded on this kid...with words about sueing him and what his dad did, and to be honest, the kid that was poking him and making fun of him was black, so he stood up and goes my grandad owned your grandad!! We were all in shock!! this was 1982 mind ya,, LOL. Then the kid whips out his dick and starts pissing on the black boy!! I still half laugh and half go man that WAS messed up...

I saw a guy jump from a bridge once. He had just shot his pregnant wife three times (she lived), and as I was crossing the Cape Fear river going into Fayetteville one morning, this guy stops his car, walks around the front, throws one leg over the railing as I pass by, and he's gone......it was one of those "what? what? did he, did I just see...." type of feelings. They found him three weeks later, about twenty miles down the river....

I had to lift a dead guy onto a hospital bed with a walk behind forklift.
He came into the ER D.O.A. The guy was to heavy for one of the normal morgue stretchers to hold him. Plus he was to big for the number of staff we had to lift him up onto it anyways. So I came up with the idea of grabbing a pallet and pallet jack. We lifted him on to the pallet by hand and then I dragged him down the hall to the stock room. Got the walk behind out and lifted him onto the bed so we could put him in the morgue.
I see alot of stuff working in the medical field, but that was one of the worst and saddest things I have ever seen or done. I could write a book.

Back in 2002 me and my 2nd wife were beginning a drive from Yuma to St. Louis. We had only been on the road for about an hour and a half tops and decided to stop in Gila Bend to get some sandwiches at a Subway. We grabbed our sandwiches and hopped back into the car driving up I85 to wards Phoenix. After only driving about a mile we seen a semi about 20 car links in front of us brake hard (you could see the smoke from it's tires and the cab jerk violently) and slide into the oncoming lane. It was still pretty early and their wasn't much traffic so we were able to drive a little beyond the semi (it had driven over the other lane and crashed into a berm, it wasn't blocking the road). I pulled over and told my wife to stay put until I checked out if everyone was OK. I get out of my car and finally notice another vehicle completely destroyed just sitting in the southbound lane. A bunch of people had stopped and got out of their vehicles, they had gathered about 20 feet from the car (the one hit by the semi) but were not approaching the vehicle. I had heard some crazy stories from our SAR Corpsmen about people surviving crashes that otherwise would have seemed impossible, so I figured I might as well be the one to walk up on the vehicle.
The car had been full of living people not even 3 minutes before, after that truck hit them that all ended. It was horrible, the only word I can think of to describe how it felt is "base". It was just terrible, the driver was what looked like a young (early 20's) woman (half her body was missing so it was difficult to tell). The back seat at one time had a few children in it but they were so badly mangled you couldn't really tell how many. In the passenger seat there was a small little body that had been wrapped up in a blanket, that was the image that really gave me problems afterwords.
This might sound like I had been able to keep my wits about me during all this, not really. I acted calm but my brain was having trouble dealing with the images, it felt like everything was burning my brain, I can't think of another more accurate way to describe the feeling. All the people there must have felt like me because it took a few moments to notice a guy completely losing his mind just off the road. He was yelling into a cell phone about the accident, he was the drivers boyfriend (he had been driving in another vehicle just in front of the wrecked car), I guess he seen it all in his rear view mirror. Then a few people noticed the truck driver had gotten out of his vehicle and walked up on the wreck. I didn't see this because I was staring at the other guy on the phone but I guess the truck driver started to go into shock (he wasn't hurt but the people in the car must have really screwed him up on the spot). The guy just laid down in the road and wouldn't say a word, this might sound strange but we covered him up with the hood of his truck so he could be shaded from the hot sun. Then we all just stood there not knowing what to do. After about ten minutes an ambulance and a police officer pulled up. After a little while I asked if they wanted a statement from me, the cop said no and that I could continue driving.
I should have turned around and driven back home but I was trying to be a tough guy, we kept driving to wards St. Louis (about a 24 hour drive). If felt like I was getting more and more brain damage as I drove, you just can't concentrate after seeing something like that. I spent the next six months acting like a crazy nut and not realizing it. I didn't have any closure (not that I should have any), I didn't know any of the peoples names and I couldn't find any information about the accident. I can't say why but I needed to know more about the people involved. Without realizing it I spent most of my waking hours trying to find something on the Internet about what had happened. I finally had to talk to our Maintenance Chief to find out how he deals with this stuff (he's a SAR Crew Chief and has gone on hundreds and hundreds of calls). Now, me and him had our differences and didn't talk much but I couldn't think of anyone else to talk to. He really helped me out, as soon as I talked to him I instantly felt more like myself again (and quickly realized how crazy I had been acting, not crazy crazy, more distant crazy).
As far as what he said to me, it was pretty simple. He asked me if I thought it was important for people to care about how I die. For example, if it was me in the car would I think my Mom should be more traumatized because I had died so violently? In my mind I'm thinking, "no", "it wouldn't matter how I died, it only matters that I'm gone". I would think it was kinda silly getting wrapped up in the terrible visuals, it's not like I could feel pain or anything, I'm dead, it's over. I'm simplifying to discussion somewhat, same goes for the story. It was a chaotic scene and it's difficult to remember specifics, each time I think of it I remember "new" details and forget others.
I had seen other stuff before and since but because of the young children involved that moment really stuck with me.

Seeing horrific images sticks with me for a bit. I try to avoid them but if i come across a site that has one that image just sticks with me for a few days. I can't explain it. Some people get off to those sorts of things but personally I can't stand them. I can't imagine actually coming up on something like that on a highway.

This was early last year. I recently earned my driving permit and my folks were letting me drive them to church one sunday. At one intersection it was a red light for my lane. Then this one car went thru it and collided with a SUV. The SUV almost went flying into my direction but the driver managed to get control and verred off. I just froze and at that point reality hit me. My dad took control of the car and moved us up a bit. The dude in the SUV only had a headache but the people in the car were worse off. the driver was fine, but the 3 passangers had to be pulled out by EMTs. They weren't wearing seatbelts and got themselves lodged under the seats. I practicly forgotten this til I read this thread.

I can't sit through a violent movie now. My wife gives me crap about it but she doesn't understand (different wife from story). This is the second time I have talked about this stuff (other then with my old boss), the only other time was on this site as well. I can sit through real life stuff, like Iraq war footage. But the fake stuff bothers me, I understand the thrill for others but for me it seems a little bizarre. At least now it does.
Just to lighten things up, I have a somewhat funny story to share (but it's not really f'd up).
I thought I seen Elizabeth Smart here in Yuma about a month after she was taken from her home. I was grabbing some food at Taco Bell and noticed this young girl that was dressed kinda strangely. Her face looked pretty young and the guy she was with seemed a little old for her (late 20's early 30's). I thought she looked familiar but couldn't put a finger on it. Anyway, I grabbed my food and sat down, they later got their food and sat nearby. She kept staring at me and I couldn't figure out why (I guess I still can't figure out why). It was an uncomfortable "dinner" (if you can consider Taco Bell dinner), she just kept looking over at me. They got up and left pretty quickly (fast eaters) and I sat there wondering what the hell that was all about. Suddenly I realize that girl looks just like the girl from the TV (her disappearance was all over TV at the time). I went up to the manager (he had taken our orders and seen the girl just like me). He agreed that it did look like her but didn't want to call the police (I didn't have a cell phone back then). I drove home like a nut and found the hotline number on the Internet. I left a message with my info and then logged into VHlinks and told them my story. I can't remember who it was but I'm pretty sure they wanted to strangle me!
I couldn't think of what to do, I wasn't positive or anything, I just thought it looked like her! Anyway, they talked me into calling the local police. The local police took down my info over the phone and promised to forward the info to the local guys in Salt Lake City. I called a few more times the next day, later on I finally got a call back from one of the volunteers (it was REALLY sad, you could tell she knew Elizabeth). I got a few more calls from a detective but it stopped after a couple of weeks.
It felt great the next year when they found her (though I'm sure it was a terrible experience).
When I started dating my wife she got me to go to her church. The first time I went that girl was there (with her boyfriend, that guy from Taco Bell). She's actually in her early 20's (and looks exactly like Elizabeth Smart!)and just dresses strange all the time. But she does still look at me strangely (she hasn't been to church in a while though), I'm not sure what the hell that's about.
Some here might remember the "guy from Vhlinks that thought he seen Elizabeth Smart", but can't remember who it was. Well, here ya go, it was me!

I have two things: once while driving down the interstate, I saw a truck pulling a 15 foot trailer behind it. I was doing 75 and the other truck had to be doing at least 80 b/c he was slowly pulling away from me. Anyone who has ever pulled a trailer knows you don't go very fast, especially w/one that long. There was an 18 wheeler behind me and this other truck. The other truck was a good 25-30 feet in front of me when it started to fishtail. I was fucked-couldn't slam on the brakes/switch lanes/speed up. Fortunately, the 18 wheeler's saw what was going on and slowed down enough so I could as well. The other truck lost control, went into the median on the side of the road barely missing a tree and flipped over twice. I pulled over, called the cops and went to go see if I could help. The truck was totaled. Surprisingly, the guys only had a scratch each.
The other fucked thing happened on my farm. My dad bought a diesel tank for more fuel storage from this company. The company assured him it was vapor free (i.e. all gas and fumes were out of it). We hired this local guy to cut a hole in the bottom for a drain plug. He was going to do it the next day and my dad wanted me to help him since he would be in the shop doing some other work. Well, that night I went to my old lady's place and one thing lead to another and yadda yadda yadda, I fell asleep there and didn't make home until the following morning. When I got there, there were several cops there. Turns out the guy started welding on it, realized there were still vapors in the tank, so he let it "air" out. He didn't have his vapor tester w/him but assured my dad he could cut on it no problem. You can guess what happened-he cut on it and it exploded. It was a 5,000 gallon tank. Part of the tank flew a quarter of a mile away. The explosion blew out the windows in the shop and threw my dad and another guy up against the wall. The tank was moved 30 feet b/c of the explosion. The guy's head was blown off and he died. Fucked up part, had I been there....Even more fucked up, the widow sued us b/c of it. Fortunately we had insurance and the blame was shifted to the company since they stated it was vapor free.
Another one would be when my dad and I got in a wreck when I was a kid. Granted, I don't recall any of it since I/we both almost died from it. I saw the Jeep we were in afterwards. It looked like a Coke can smushed.LSU Tigers 2003 & 2007 National Champs
