Saw this on Headline News this morning. I don't remember the guy as I'm not a real big baseball fan, but I know that he's about 3 years younger than I am. That scares the shit out of me. RIP Rod.

Rod Beck is baseball's equal to Michael Anthony.
Super nice guy without the ego trip, he came in just about everygame and did his job until his arm just about fell off.

True Rod Beck story, told to me yesterday...

My friend is a huge Giants fan, so when his sister-in-law came from Chicago with her eight year old son he took them to see the Cubs lose to SF. Beck pitched .

After the game, as they walked back to their car they hear a loud voice from behind them "Hey, kid! Don't you know you're not supposed to wear that Cubs junk around here? You've got some nerve!!".When they turn around they see that it's Beck with a big grin on his face and proceeds to pick the boy up and pretend that he's going to drop him on his head 'Why I otta!". Then Beck put him down and spent about 20 minutes autographing everything the awe-struck kid could find. Beck proudly signed his name over the Cubs logo on the boy's jersey and that jersey's now framed and hanging on a wall somewhere.

    That was Rod Beck.
