But I have been thinking about this since I saw a video on youtube a few days ago...

VH should.....

1. Get Ed healthy & happy again....
2. Tour with Dave to get that out of the way (with Mike).
then...

3. Get Jeff Scott Soto into the band and record new stuff as a new band, different name and all...

Check out Jeff Scott Soto on YouTube, he would have bene a great fit for VH, and he lists VH as his main influence (Along with Journey & Queen). He has also had recent experience in working live with old men so that might help too.

I know FORD won't be happy but I'd love to see it.

Some people like his dated, mawkish 80's soft rock style vocals. It's mostly Journey and Yngwie Malmsteen fans that dig him. He'd be a great fit if Van Halen was to continue doing crap like Dreams, When Love Walks In and Can't Stop Loving You.

I always felt VH should have looked outside of the heavy metal/melodic rock genre for their third (or fourth) lead singer. While VH inspired a decade's worth of imitators, they still always skirted the outside edge of the mainstream and did their own thing. Jumping into the pool of VH influences would only bring out a mimicked version of what they were (like how it was with Gary). JSS (or Mitch Malloy) would just equal "not quite VH." It's either Sammy or Dave, someone completely different, or no more VH.

Actually, I'd be quite curious to hear a project (or projects) from either EVH or AVH, together or separate, that was not VH. Solo albums, something with Wolfgang, an entirely new band--a new twist that wouldn't have to fit under the boxed up status of "Van Halen, the band" as it is considered by most fans (and possibly the members too). I think that might offer the most room for brand new creativity.

For mine, thats a bit of a stereotype that he has been stuck with. He is a lot more than just the Journey stuff (which I think will haunt him). do a search for Jeff Scott Soto on youtube. There is a heap if rock stuff there as well as his ballad stuff. Also check out his Queen stuff. He would have made a lot better replacement than Paul Rodgers IMO.

Off the top of my head, check out his song Stand Up on You tube.

Jeff is a cool guy, I really like Soul Sirkus project and his solo stuff, but I'm with Andrew Thomas on this. It's either something totally new or nothing.

Everythings Jeff Scott Soto at the moment!!!! Soul sirkis, Journey, Talisman (Whatever). Even Queen fans prefer him over Paul Rodgers and should be with Queen. He must be the most wanted man in Rock. Funny, I have'nt even heard one song hes sung.
