With Billy Sheehan out of Mr. Big I can see him pushing to get something together with Vai and Roth for another EEAS tour. From what I can see Vai would be agreeable to that as well. Going that way, Dave would still be able to call the shots and have more control than he would with Van Halen. I don't think the tour would be as popular, but he doesn't need the money so he'll probably go wherever he's happiest.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next month or two. I've got a strong feeling there'll be some news by then.

Do you think that maybe Vai doesn't want to HAVE to play Eddie's music again?
It will become another VH tribute band with a few of their own songs mixed in.
At this stage I'm not sure if Vai wants to regress.
But then again what else has he got going on these days. Other than club shows with Satriani?

At this stage Vai is in the extremely enviable position of being (as much as probably any artist in the business) his own boss.

My question would be why would Vai want to go back to being a side man when he's the star and leader right now? I believe it's possible that he might work with Dave, but I would think he'd push for more artistic equality in the group. The way I see it, he's got the leverage to get that, because he doesn't NEED Dave.
