Are golfers atheletes?

For years I've been wondering what this huge television audience sees in golf.
And now I know: itself.

Golf is the toughest game to play on the planet....If you haven't played it you will never know what I mean.
The tv does not do justice to how hard that course was at the US Open....Imagine your driveway all slanted and full of hills and valleys....That was what the greens were like...

They are talented in other ways than the fitness thing...ie) football,runners,basketball....etc...

Golf is a skill, not a sport.
I golf and it is a difficult activity, but it's also an activity one can do while drinking beer, smoking weed...ect. Come to think of it, thats the reason I enjoy golfing so.

Golfers have great mental toughness,co-ordination,focus,and can work magic with the little fucking thing. It can be the most frustrating sport ever...

Put the little ball in the hole 550 yards away.....Sounds easy,it's not...

It depends.

If you carry your clubs and walk the course, you are an athlete in my book.

If you drive a golf cart, you are more pathetic than a car racer, who we all agree are not athletes.

Golf is a sport. Does participating in a sport make one an athlete?

I don't know the answer. But I tip my hat to anyone who can walk 18 or 36 in the hot sun with black slacks on.

I've been getting it to watching golf the past six months, and it does look like it's a very tough game.

I'd just rather be watching Game 7 of the cup finals, ya know? Sometimes trying to score a goal on Marty Brodeur is kinda like tryin to put a ball in a hole 550yds away.

These guys obviously haven't seen Daly drive a ball,or seen his unbelievable rotation in his swing...

Different type of atletic skill...And yeah,I agree a car driver is not an athelete..
Fuck my 87 yr. old grandma can drive a fucking car but I doubt she could hit a golf ball...

According to the definition, both race car drivers and golfers are athletes...
