I happened to go to vanhalenstore.com and noticed that the VH book was once again pushed back, this time to November. It was originally due this month, then pushed to August. Anyone have the specifics? Last time I heard it was to add pages. Thanks!

I know everyone is extremely anxious to receive their copy of my
forthcoming book "Van Halen, A Visual History" and I wanted to fill
everyone in on what is happening.
The book was to be published by VH1 / MTV books but due to a difference
in our "visions / opinions", I decided that they were not the right
company to publish my book. This is going to be my very first book and
I need to have the book done MY WAY so I can be proud of it and I want all the Van Halen fans be totally satisfied with what they get!!!

So now, the book is being published by Chronicle Books which publishes
some of the best music books in the world!!! The book will now have
even more quotes from musicians / industry people and will also have
more pages than before.

The bad news is the book won't officially be available to the general
public until March / April 2008 BUT the good news is that anyone who has bought or buys the book from VH STORE.COM or ZLOZ.COM will be
receiving their copies in late November / early December 2007 , in time for the Christmas holidays!!! If anyone who has pre ordered it or paid for it and would like cancel their order, that can also be arranged and
is no problem.

Why does my monitor smell like bullshit now?

No BS, of course. Long story short, Neil was really being jerked around by the VH1/MTV people, so he simply left them. Because the new publisher is letting Neil have way more control of the book (page count, layout, choice of photos, etc) the book will turn out much better, in my opinion. The only downside is, we all have to WAIT longer. But I guess we VH fans are pretty good at doing that, aren't we?

I just want to point out that, because the release date is being moved from June to November, some people might need to change their SHIP TO address on their order, or, if their credit card expires before November, they'll have to give me their new expiration date, or a different credit card altogether. So if you've ordered the book, and either of those scenarios applies to you, please email me and I'll update your order.

One more thing about the book - I notice some people here were speculating that that Neil is publishing the book ONLY because VH is supposed to tour soon. Or some people think that the delay had something to do with the band delaying it. That stuff isn't true. Neil has been very excited to do this book for many years, and when he started putting the book together, there were no plans for VH to tour with Dave. The process of putting this thing together started awhile ago. And the delay has nothing to do with the band. They can't stop a book like this from coming out, nor would they want to. David Lee Roth even helped out by writing the Forward!
