    Default Greetings! Nooby Alert!

Hiya! I've been lurking around here for awhile now and finally figured it is time to join and take part in this forums that pay tribute to "The Mighty Van Halen".

I'm 33yo, and I saw VH thrice, back in '04 (Omaha, Ames, and Rapid City). I had a great time at all three and was in the front row for Omaha and Ames, and the 3rd row for Rapid City.

DLR, Sammy, or Gary? That seems to be the biggest source of aggression in this place. For me, I have to bow on that dsicussion because I am one of the few who believe each lead singer brought their own unique talents and each "era" of VH is awesome in its own right. As long as the "core" remains healthy and true, VH will always be a powerful thing.

My buddy and I went to a "Fair Warning" (VH tribute band) concert this past weekend here in Sioux Falls. I was in awe. First, their image was striking. The lead singer has DLR's persona down in a hypnotic way, and "Chubby Eddie" has EVH's persona down as well, even the facial expressions while playing the guitar. Second, the music and vocals were surprisingly close. While not "EXACT", it was obvious these guys pay close attention to detail. They are very entertaining and we had a great time.

Anyway... thanks for reading this "noobie's" post. See ya around!

I am new here too. I've loved Van Halen since 1995, when my dad took me to see them on the Balance tour. As far as I can remember, Ed's playing was great, Sammy's voice was great, and Mike and Al did fantastic. It was a great show. I was 9 years old in 1996...and I saw the VMA's. I remember being extremely angry when they broke up again. I didn't even know there was a VH3 until up about last year. I saw them in 2004, they were par at best. I didn't buy BOBW cause I didn't need it, I have every album on CD + Best of compilation. I think EVH is a major inspiration to me guitar-playing wise, I've been playing for 5-6 years. I've been lurking here for almost a year, just coming to see what is happening in VH news. The soap opera, to some extent, is exciting. I prefer both Dave and Sammy and would do anything to see the real Van Halen.

welcome aboard, mate. if dysfuntion, ignorance, paranoia, and bitter battles that will never be won, lost or go away entertains you..you'll have a lot of fun here
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

    Welcome aboard, LtBennett!
    DLR, circa 2001:

"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.

About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!

In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.

That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.

And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.

Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."
