Me Wise Magic

I was just listening to this song. Has anyone interpreted Dave's lyrics as a commentary on him being back in the band (at that time) and that he was what eddie needed? I'm relatively new to this forum and maybe this has been discussed before.

Any comments?

I don't know if Me Wise Magic has ever been dissected but I remember Redfire had a long theory about the meaning of the lyrics of Can't Get This Stuff No More. But you just got me thinking (a miracle in itself), check this out.

When VH and Dave got together in 1996 it had been around 11 years since they'd been together. In Me Wise Magic Dave sings "A little Zen, headed your way, you'll get it, half-way down the interstate". The key here being "half-way". Half of 11 is 5.5, which, added to 1996 equals (about)2001. Which seems to be when we'll get some new VH music.

Hmmm, is Dave using that Zen to make future predictions?

Not a very coded message here. It sounds to me that Dave was writing this straight to Eddie. Is Dave saying that despite Eddie's apprehensions that things were clicking while they were working together? Is he implying that he was the magical ingredient Eddie and the band needed?
Do you think that because Eddie didn't like what Dave was saying, but knew it was true, made him want to go out and prove himself without Dave?

Am I off track?

I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that Ed & Desmond Child had co-written the lyrics to 'Me Wise Magic'. Does anyone else remember this?

Maybe it was, I can't remember to be honest exactly who it was, I distinctly remember DLR was presented lyrics and he chucked 'em out... I'll try to remember to dig the book out and look later.
