volume pot issue
kinda weird one this, i fitted a volume pot to my guitar recently and it worked great for about 2 months but now it just seems to work as a tone control!, it doesnt reduce the volume in anyway it just roll off the highs, anyone else heard of this or had it happen before?
im gonna swap it out later today anyways i just thought i'd ask.
it is fitted to my selfmade evh replica, its a 500k volume pot wired to a gibson burstbucker then straight to the output, so no major wiring issues i would have thought

I know very little about wiring at this point. (I'm going to do it for the first time on the Warmoth I'm assembling right now.) But it's my understanding that a pot is a pot and depending on how you wire and solder will make it volume or tone. So you may have a soldering connection that went bad and shifted the function of your pot.
Anyone with better knowledge of this kind of thing care to chime in and explain better/tell me I'm full of shit?

ive replaced the pot now and used a 250k item now and all is good.
i think the pot just decided it didnt wanna play cathedral anymore..lol
although it did have some benifits to having no volume control and just using a pedal to reduce volume/gain while a single control altered the highs for a while i considered keeping it
