Eddie's in NY

Talk about irony.

A friend of mine (not a big VH fan) calls me, leaves me this message, saying "Did you know Eddie Van Halen lives in NY?" "Not only in NY, but in Mount Sinai, right near you?" "And that I'll be meeting him soon".

And here i am on my computer trying to find out any info, any scrap of knowledge of activity with the band in LA, in 5150, and Eddie's out here a town away from me...

Crazy.


Well, I call him back a few times and finally get in touch with him and he tells me something Eddie's doing, something private, about cancer, towards the end of August. Like in the 20's of August, near the end of the month. Right out here. But its private, he knows because he's working for the guy that Eddie's meeting with.

He asks me, did you know Eddie Van Halen has cancer?

I was like, of course, i told you he did, dont you remember? He didn't remember. But he said he was getting treatment at a hospital right near me, minutes away. He got all this info from his boss. I asked if it was possible this was old info on the treatment and he said it could be, but that Eddie lives out here and in LA. He did get treatment here, not sure if he still is getting treated.

Anyway, this is for real. So maybe, just maybe, Eddie will still be in NY August 29th.

Maybe something WILL happen this time with Dave or Sammy.
I doubt it.

But he's living around the block from me, not sure how often he's here, but he is here later this month.

Im so tired of all the silence.
Tired of waiting for new music.
I hope something happens late August early Fall.
I can't care much longer.

ed could live in a million different places for his second home. the fact that he may be living there which is the same place he received some cancer treatment is not good news to me at all

Well that's a funny story (you're full of shit) because Eddie did all of his cancer treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at the Univ. of Texas Medical Center in Houston.

I posted a few times regarding Ed visting NY. I know that he has been visiting the Port Jeff/Mt. Sinai area over the past 2 years. He frequents a steak house in the middle of town, my brother in law is the executive chef, and I have seen his signature on the guest book. My posts have been put off as rumors in the past, but he has been/is here. I have had multiple people who know that I am a die hard VH/Eddie fan call and tell me that they have saw him walking through town. I also know that he stays at the most prominent Port Jeff hotel overlooking LI Sound. Considering his visits and that Val/Wolfie are no longer traveling with him during the summer, it would make sense if he rented a house. Mt. Sinai is 10 minutes from Port Jeff. The last time I was aware he visited was May 2002.
The reason for the visits is definitely cancer related. He has a Doctor that summers on the North Fork of Long Island and was visiting once every two weeks. He told the entire staff at the restaurant the reasons for his stay.
My family has experienced cancer first hand and the disease is not something that just goes away. You live by the disease every day, regardless if you have been given a clean bill of health. People just don't seem to understand that you must, MUST alter your lifestyle. Otherwise, the end result is pretty clear, your dead. I have always doubted what we are being told, epsecially since mouth/tongue/neck cancer is so deadly. Combine that with a patient who continues to drink and smoke and bad things can happen. I believe that Ed is in remission and that treatment is something he will have to endure for quite awhile.

Dude he is not lying. Eddie was having treatment last year in Long Island. Why would someone lie about something like this? Some people just amaze me.

Well in NYC Sloan-Kettering Hospital is one of the biggest cancer treatment centers in the world. I have known of people to fly into NYC from as far as Asia to just get a check up there. Lets just hope he is just getting a follow up exam to make sure everything is fine.

Especially about Van Halen, we've all been dying for info and the last thing i would do is jerk fellow Van Halen fans around.

I hear he has bought or is renting a house in Mount Sinai and going to Stonybrook Hospital for treatment, or at least he did go there for treatment.

And I KNOW he'll be out here in late August.
I know, i know, the MTV thing will never happen.
(August 29th...! NY! Sam and Dave here! Come on!)

But, let's just hope he goes back to LA in the Fall and THE MEETING takes place, like Mikey said, and they decide to finally do this thing and go out with a BANG.

I just posted cause I thought it was ironic that here I am on Long Island checking my computer everyday for Van Halen info, hoping to wake up one day and hear some NEWS that the band is recording with a singer and preparing a cd release, trying to tap into the inner walls of 5150 way out there across the country in LA...

And of course getting treated and hopefully getting better and better.

Cancer is a tricky disease. Like someone said here, it's a day-to-day thing. It's not very likely that Ed could simply be "cancer-free" and not have to worry about it ever again. It's just not that simple.
