Cool! Thanks bud!!! I'm building my own custom and I wanted to see the MM with "Seymour Duncan style" pickup cavities like in that pic!

Yeah thanks for the encouragement! I basically want a sound somewhere between a current Les Paul Standard and the Axis. The Axis needs a bit more treble to my ears these days. The Body will be basswood (no maple top), pickups, I'm thinking a Duncan Custom for the bridge and a '59 in the neck postion. I'm going with a solid paint job I was leaning toward black, but last night I saw a wicked candy red wolfgang that was hot! I also want a recessed LesPaul bridge and string through the body! I've been searching for all the details and measurements to match the MusicMan as close as possible, right down to the size of the dot inlays! LOL! The headstock I think may be 3+3 tuners, Warmoth copies the Line6 Variax headstock, I may get that one and modify top of the headstock with a design I came up with!

It is really amazing to me how much a maple cap brightens up the tone. My solid basswood Wolfgangs have a rich, thick tone (which is awesome), and the maple top versions really contrast that with significantly more treble.

I was actually surprised to read you didn't find much treble in the Axis. Were you playing a trem version (basswood with a maple cap) or a Super Sport?

Yeah, it was the Standard trem Version with a Quilt top. Maybe I was just drunk. My Wolf Special seemed that way too. It might be my taste in pickups has changed some.
