I listened to this track again yesterday and wonder why I was so "blah" about it back in 2004. It's a great song!

I listened to Up for Breakfast for the first time in over a year just yesterday....ya know, it's really not a bad track. They've done worse. Fuck the lyrics. Who listens to VH for the lyrics?

    OVERATED!!

    ....kidding..

I have always loved that song.....if you listen to Humans Being next to Learning to See, you can really see the direction the band might have gone if they could have somehow stuck together for one more disc....a grittier, heavier, darker sounding tone.....even It's About Time had a good "heavy" sound.
Even though there was some time passed between HB and LTS....IMO the tension between Sam and Ed made for some damn good music....if they could have possibly made one more sudio album despite the issues between them....or, because the of tension.....we could have had Sammy and Eddies' "Fair Warning"....

    oh, what could have been.....

I listen to It's About Time & Up For Breakfast at least 5 times a week. I like the lyrics, but I love the music.

Aren't they? My favorite time to listen to them is when I'm in my pool floating around, just relaxing and rockin'.

    I like the lyrics,
Some of the worst lyrics of all time and Hagar's screaming at the end of Learning To See is complete torture.

The three BOBW tunes take a lot of heat around here, but they're great songs. I never bought the "Up For Breakfast" lyrical comedy thing Sammy was going for (obviously most didn't), but the song is great. I sit and wait for that Eddie solo to come (awesome!).

Production and mix just fell a little shy on all three, that's all. I listen around it.

I quite like the three tracks from 2004, all of them are better than anything from the Van Halen III album.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth, Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen, Sammy Hagar.

Exactly. Balance seemed like a slow turn in that direction, but we'll never know. "Between Us Two" was the song that I always dreamed of hearing.

I like all three. I actually have no complaints on my end; though I agree with Andrew and they could've had some better production, but I'm not quite the "ear" that Andrew is.
