Guitar Hero: Rock The 80's
Woo Hoo! I can't wait for this one to come out....
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/new...hp?story=14039
More Hair Metal Tracks Confirmed For 80s Guitar Hero
Major publisher Activision has revealed an additional handful of classic 80's tracks that will be featured in the recently announced Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s, set to be released this summer for the PlayStation 2.
The title is apparently the final Guitar Hero game to be developed by original creator Harmonix - the developer is now owned by MTV and working on multi-instrument music game Rock Band for publishing via MTV Games, with distribution and marketing by EA. Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s will feature 30 new songs specifically themed around the decade – including those from iconic “hair bands” such as Poison and Skid Row.
In addition to those tracks already confirmed, the game will also include:
- 18 and Life (as made famous by Skid Row)
- Bathroom Wall (as made famous by Faster Pussycat)
- Lonely is the Night (as made famous by Billy Squier)
- Nothing But a Good Time (as made famous by Poison)
- Play With Me (as made famous by Extreme)
- Shaken (as made famous by Eddie Money)
- Synchronicity II (as made famous by Police)
These songs join others by bands such as Twisted Sister, Flock of Seagulls, and Ratt, leaving sixteen tracks as yet unannounced for the upcoming rhythm action game. The Guitar Hero franchise continues to be a major one for Activision, with recent positive financial results being partially ascribed to Guitar Hero II's success.Face Down in Cabo!

Here's hoping we get another VH song. Hell, they should to an entire game with VH songs; how do you pick just one?
Psalms 75:10: "All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; BUT THE HORNS OF THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL BE EXALTED."
J.A.S. 8/10/1936 - 10/28/2006. I miss you, Mom.
My favorite number used to be 5150. Now, it's 41-38.
Texas Longhorns: 2005 National Champions!!!
Political Correctness means always having to say you're sorry.
"I am altering the deal. Pray I do not alter it any further."
"[T]he only way you're gonna get fulfilled is to sit right there in that front row and just get your face bashed in." - Sammy Hagar

I read an interview with the guys behind Guitar Hero in one of my son's gaming magazines - they say that getting Panama would be their ultimate song to have on GH. They say it's their ideal for a rock song.

There's also another article about GH III, coming out later this year:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/791/791045p1.html
UK, May 23, 2007 - Activision has rocked our world by officially announcing that Guitar Hero III will feature wireless guitars, an online multiplayer mode and original artists recordings when the game is released this Autumn.
Guitar Hero III will be available on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii and will feature an abundance of new modes, including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, boss battles, unlockable content and authentic rock venues.
More importantly, wannabe rock gods can get their fingers in a twist with the all-new wireless guitar controllers, with the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 getting the Gibson Les Paul and PS2 the proud recipient of a Gibson Kramer. What's more, the guitars will have removable faceplates that allow fans to personalise their guitars, plus they'll include a new button colour design for "an even greater authentic feel and rock experience".
In addition Guitar Hero III will include an expanded online multiplayer in which axe-shredders worldwide can compete in head-to-head battles to prove they're the ultimate rock legend. As for the tracks you'll be rocking along to, Activision has revealed that GHIII features more master recordings than ever before, with the first tracks announced as follows:
Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
The Metal - Tenacious D
My Name is Jonas - Weezer
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Slow Ride - Fog Hat
Cult of Personality - Living Colour
Barracuda - Heart
My kids are stoked about the online play!<Insert favorite VH song lyrics here>

Yeah, but you see, your kids should be stoked about getting real guitars and then finding other musicians their age to jam with instead. I'm sorry, but I don't have one good thing to say about this Guitar Hero shit. I know it's just a game and that it shouldn't piss me off, but I can't help but feel offended as a guitarist by the whole concept.

My 13 year old son is a bassist and drummer, has dual drum solo in his stage band concert tomorrow. Only guitarist he jams with lives 40 min away, 1-2 times per week play riffs to each other over phone. My 10 year old daughter is a pianist and beginner drummer. It's just a video game, not like they play it for hours on end, like Zelda was.
Both kids have gotten into music they hadn't listened to before (not without trying by me). My son is now learing the bass line to Higher Ground by the RHCP, my daughter just burned a cd that has half GH songs on it, including Iron Man, War Pigs, and Sharp Dressed Man - helps her to practice her drum pad. I see it as enhancing or broadening music, not replacing real instruments, at least in our house.<Insert favorite VH song lyrics here>

Yeah, there is a big difference. I started out playing medium levels, and have gotten to the point where I can get almost 100% on all of them. But I can't do the hard level worth a crap!
I love the game, though. And I can't wait for this new one to come out. They are saying this is the last one.Face Down in Cabo!
