This one is VERY good, most of the artists are 80's Hard Rock's finest:

My favorite is "Everybody Wants Some Of Van Halen-A Loose Interpretation Of The Musical Genius"

Captain Rock's version of Panama is one of coolest covers ever!

By far the most inspired VH cover album. However, it is not for everyone. The artists take some fairly daring creative leaps with the material, which may be viewed as sacrilege by many of the VH faithful.

The Sade-like version of "Everybody Wants Some" is outstanding.
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

Yep - my vote for best. I like Sam Black Church's, "Romeo Deight" and Cherry Bombs "Feel Your Love Tonight"... among others.

Really, the only one tribute album I like.... most tribute albums suck.

2000 -Tribute To Van Halen is now available as Little Guitars.

That and Everbody Wants Some - A Loose Interpretation Of The Musical Genius Of Van Halen are the only two I bothered with.

Both are good for different reasons.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth, Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen, Sammy Hagar.

I liked what I heard of the bluegrass VH tribute "Strummin' With The Devil." For the most part the musicianship and arrangements were outstanding.

I agree. If you can get past the fact that it is bluegrass and just appreciate the musicianship involved, it is a pretty interesting listen. Not to say I spin it all day long, but I actually like a few of the interpretations.

The tributes from the washed-up 80s wannabe's just shows the talent gap between VH and the bands that wanted to be like them but couldn't even qualify to be Ed's guitar tech. All of those are embarassing.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
