I think it means your not chained down anymore, hit the ground running. Maybe that's why they opened with it a lot.

I think that Dave is talking about how before VH was signed, there were alot of people that did not want to have anything to do with the band (I guess they had a bad reputation ). However, after the signing of the band and VH's continued success, all these people suddenly became friendly and wanted to jump on the bandwagon of the success of the band.

I think that Unchained is about something to that effect.

I never really thought about it. I just assume it's about changing, as the lyrics would indicate - "change, nothing stays the same..."

I pretty much only listen to the live version now..
I don't care if Dave sings about duck-billed platypus on melba toast,don't notice,don't care....

Most of Dave's lyrics are quite different, yet very fitting. Somehow they work.....
Reading the lyrics ya posted ,I assume he had a few lines and a half bottle of J.D. in him at the time.....

Until they (VH) had a Fat City address, nobody gave them (VH) "the time of day." Dave is talking about people in the music business being two-faced. Maybe about people, in general!!

I dunno. It sound good, though.

I'm sure there is some meaning behind it. Just like Muff said in an earlier post, I also listen to VH mainly for Ed's guitar playing.
