Shame Shame on Sammy Hagar for promising to do something and never doing it. Sammy promised Ed that he would blow both Eddie and DLR if the 2 songs on BOV1 were better than anything they had ever done with him and as far as I know he never came through. Not as if Eddie would actually want that but Sammy shouldn't make promises he can't keep.

GW: Eddie was really hung up over that song, wasn't he?
SH: It was ridiculous. I'd had enough of his ranting about it. I said, "Eddie, first of all, you never asked me to do anything. You're trying to get me to do something on a song I think is great, that Glen Ballard thinks is great, but you don't? Forget it!" I told Eddie that if I heard a guitar part that I didn't like in a song, he wouldn't change it no matter how much I objected to it, if he thought it was right. "Oh no, man, that's not right. I'd do anything you ask. I'd even play the guitar standing on my head, anything, just ask." Well, I wasn't getting anywhere with him, and I was really pissed at this point. Finally I said, "Eddie, this Roth thing, fuck you! If what you two are doing is better than anything you and I can do, I'll blow you both!" To which he remarked, "Well, I wouldn't say that man, this stuff is pretty good."

Axe Slinger: Aren't you glad you don't have someone walking around behind you recording everything you've ever said in your life and documenting it? I bit you (and I) and everyone else here, is guilty of saying things that we never get called on (and should have been called on)
Let it go: It's not as though Dave, or Eddie, or anyone else involved in Van Halen, didn't ever say something that looked stupid later.
Let's not forget, there was a time (back when Dave was doing his Vegas bit, where Dave was interviewed by USA Today and said (in regards to his new musical direction) "I'm through with rock and roll man. I'm just not that angry anymore."
Oh really Dave? Then why did you perform 2 Rock and Roll songs for BOV1 years later....and why are you currently out on the road playing all those "angry" rock and roll Van Halen tunes???
Ya see how silly I can make this?
Who cares! We all say things we regret!"Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

Lissen,
I think that was just an excues Hagar used to try to put his pube headed pleasure tickling tongue to DLR's and EVH's man sausage. But, being that both men were straight, he quit the band, then claimed he was booted. What a tool. Besides, there's only 2 songs with Hagar on there worth a damn, and they could have been written by anyone, even Bon Jovi for jeebus sake. SH should have blown Alex and Mike too for good measure."Well, well, well...Despite what the Florida tourism board has been feeding all you ignorant people, it is I, every female's top tourist destination and the man who's crotch is truly the happiest place on earth. The man who makes Minnie Mouse's panties wet and the man who just last night helped Daisy Duck fulfill her dream, as she took one for the team, and I made her squeal and scream, as I filled her full of cream. It is I, the bacon in her eggs, the man for whom she begs, and the face between her legs. The Quintessential and original Studmuffin and a good lord, have mercy, Goddamn handsome man. Turd, I shoot out a full condom filla and it taste like vanilla', Slinger." - Turd Slinger

When you say something in a Guitar World interview, it's fair game.

That was just a joke - I figured I'd go for some dark humor since we've all been up in arms lately over this whole DLR vs. Hagar thing. I like VH with Hagar but would rather see them with DLR. That's it... I'm out.

I understand AxeSlinger.....I figured you were just joking....I was only attemptingto point out the fact that we all say things that could come back to haunt us. The difference between you or I verses somebody like Sammy Hagar or David Lee Roth, is that no one from a famous publication or News Show is gonna ask us for a soundbite! Therefore our mistakes aren't as clearly documented!

AxeSlinger84 - Sammy made that quote on the Howard Stern Show. And you know what? Sammy was SO RIGHT!!!!! Even "Humans Being", a song that Sammy was so opposed to doing and which became part of his break from the band, BLEW AWAY "Me Wise Magic" and "YCGTSNM."
And for the record. Even with those two Roth songs and all their greatest hits from BOVI, every Sammy album with VH outsold that album. Sammy set the record straight!

"Humans Being" was a good song but what did Sammy have to do with it? NOTHING besides singing on it. He didn't write that song - Eddie did. Sammy was being a difficult asshole who was too lazy to do his job and was pissing and moaning about a flight to Maui the whole time.
Besides, CGTSNM and Me Wise Magic blew that song outta the water. The first 2 VH songs in 12 years with DLR have more impact than another song with Hagar singing.

Yeah, and all Club Dave did was sing the lyrics given to him on those 2 BOVI songs as well. Mis-statement there

Very good point Cabo!!!!
If I recall correctly the music to MWM and CGTSNM was already written BEFORE DLR got involved...."Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

I don't care if Diane Warren wrote those 2 songs - they're still amazing.

Geez.. here we go again with more bad facts. That's simply not true.
