Diver Down on worst album list.

I don't know if having an album on the "worst album by an awesome band" list is a complement or an insult.

DD's a very underrated album, if anything. I was listening to it over the weekend (two long car trips), and I was just realizing how great it is from top to bottom. I realize to some people, the word "cover" equals bad things. I totally disagree, and even so, the fact this album has covers on it is completely overblown. Half the material on there is original VH.
If it's BROWN, flush it DOWN.

Umm to me To Call Any of the Classic Van Halen w/DLR one the worst albums is obviously some idiot... To me i think DIver Down Kicks Maximum ass the whole way through...think about .. songs like Big Bad Bill and Happy Trails is what Van Halen and DLR personify.. kinda like that we dont give a shit attitude and were a party band...so anyway To me Diver Down is Classic in every sense

When DD came out, I didn't care how many covers or what the F*** the almighty VH were up to. All I know, at the time, that album rocked the spring and summer of '82!!!

Diver Down was a disappointing album in the big picture of all things VH, but it still has quite the share of awesome VH-ness throughout. It does not belong on any "worst album" list. Fuck anyone who says it does.

DD may not be Classic Van Halen's best, but I would easily put Hang 'em High, Secrets, Little Guitars, and The Full Bug among my Top 10 - 15 songs by VH.

Diver Down is probably the most underappreciated album by any legitimate band ever. There has never been a day that I haven't loved this album.

We all seem to believe that nobody can cover a song like VH, so what's the problem here? They can Halenize any tune and make it better than the original. The list is endless:

    Pretty Woman
    You're No Good
Where Have All The Good Times Gone

    etc...

And yes, even Dancing In The Street. Love it or hate it, it's better than any of the seemingly hundreds of versions floating around.

Diver Down kicks ass, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just not seeing it for how good it really is.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

Couldn't agree more. The 4 originals off Diver are among Halen's finest moments. Blistering tour de force tracks.

nice post, DD. The originals are some of my absolute faves, and (of course, ) they do kickass versions of the covers. DITS has great harmonies, and I love WHATGTG. Ed's tone on that one is beautiful.
By the way, who did the original?

I do think there were too many covers, though - there's 5?

and Pretty Woman, even VH version not so great, imho...

I love every song on that album. Especially Hang 'em High and Intruder really shows how brilliant Ed is. Btw, does anyone know if that sound around the beginning is Ed breathing or something?

Definitely. Ed's tone on DD is incredible.

Considering that DD was done in two weeks or less, it is a testament to how great this band was.

the originals on DD are pretty strong but I can see where a non hardcore fan wouldn't get it. It's too bad really, they rushed this out due to record company pressure and it could have been really, really strong. I dont' really see how this is on that list but VHIII isn't, that's a little strange to me.
