Oh yea!! Seen this tour Live @ the Five in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
I personally had no reservations that Sammy was gonna be a good fit for VH.

Have you seen the Japan Tour vids? This song smokes even more (imo) on that tour.

I like that version personally. It just ooozes vibe and excitement.

This is the thing about the "Dave or grave guys", while I understand how they could be so upset about Dave not fronting Van Halen, but how can you watch that and not appreciate how fuck'n badass that band was.

But I do wonder why the hell that Japan show isnt available on DVD yet!

Even though it's Sammy's song, i love the video of Edward shredding on the Japan tour. The part where they high five is a great visual.

Edward's a pretty good guitarist don't ya think?

Ed talked about it in guitar world or something like that along time ago, he said it was just "oK' and he didn't feel it represented the band properly. He spent a few days mixing it and it just never sounded right to him.

I can't help but agree with him there. It just doesn't sound like "Van Halen" to me, never has. I've said that many times around here.

If he's gonna release another DVD from the Hagar years, it has to be Pensacola or Toronto 1995.

Hmmmm, never read anything by Ed that stated anything like that about the Japan show, who knows.

If that's accurate then Ed is crazy, Sam sounds great and the band played just fine. It doesn't have the chummy chummy high spirits vibe thing like LWAN but it still kicks ass, just in a different way.

If Ed really did say that then he's talking out of his ass. One Way To Rock fit perfectly into a VH show.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

I was a Sammy fan before he joined VH. I've always loved that song. It sounds even better with VH playing it.

One of my favorites as well! This always gets me going...

Something interesting though, listen to this version and then listen to the version on "Right Here, Right Now". It sounds so tired and slow. Kind of like they were mailing it in....
