Local Dumb-Fuck Drives Car Into Swimming Pool

    Only in South Florida...

Driver and car end up in pool

Woman tells police she hit a bump on Nob Hill Road (more than likely while blabbing on a cell-phone, which after all, is far more important than driving. )

    By Macollvie Jean-François

Davie· A Cooper City woman on her way to work made quite a splash Friday when her car crashed into a backyard swimming pool.

Jenette Baksh, 23, told police she hit a bump as she drove a red 1997 Ford Aspire sedan northbound in the 1500 block of Nob Hill Road about 9:40 a.m., said Lt. Bill Bamford, Davie police spokesman.

She lost control (on a straight stretch of road...how challenging) and careened through a house's wooden fence, Bamford said.

The car plunged into a home's swimming pool.

Baksh managed to climb out through the driver's-side window before the Aspire settled into the deep end.

"No injuries, just a little insult," Bamford said. "Her ego was a little bruised. She looked embarrassed."

Witnesses said the car briefly floated, but was at the bottom of the pool by the time police arrived. Officer Dexter Riley said a soaked Baksh was resting near the 28-by-14-foot tiki pool when he arrived .

"It looks wild to see a car in a pool," Riley said. "That makes a pool look really tiny. It's an optical illusion."...Remember, this "Cheech Y Chong"-worthy comment is from a police officer.

As Riley investigated, a neighbor called homeowner Ena Hughes, 40, at work in Boca Raton. The interior designer rushed back home.

"There's never enough drama in our lives, right," Hughes, the mother of two teenage boys, said. "We've had close calls before. There's a tremendous speeding problem on this road."

Hughes said one son rides his bicycle to school and missed the crash by about an hour. Wow. Safe by an entire hour. Yup, I missed the Hindenburg by a few decades. Boy, was I fortunate.

Baksh declined to be interviewed and left the scene as a tow truck got ready to haul out her car. Bamford said police are considering whether to issue a citation. "It's an unlucky incident but, luckily for her, she didn't hit a tree," Riley said. Yes, Fortunately, the fucking swimming pool prevented this. Yet another astute comment from our "on top of things" local law enforcer.

Yeah, guess you guys are right. Asking folk to adapt to a road that goes merely north and south in a straight line is asking far too much of our "easily distracted" drivers.

One has to admire the typical "South Florida-weary, seen it all" tone of the mother's comment: "There's never enough drama in our lives, right," Hughes, the mother of two teenage boys, said.

How very preventable. They really need to tighten up on who they issue driver's licenses to. Or ban cell phones from cars. Something........

    Once again...

CORAL SPRINGS - A Coral Springs couple didn't let a little thing like a car plunging into their pool stop them from going on their Key West honeymoon.

Stacy Lazdowski, 44, and her husband, Robert J. Lazdowski, 33, who married in December, were eager to start their three-day honeymoon Friday.

But they almost had to ditch their plans when a teenager drove his blue 2005 Acura more than 30 feet from the road into the couple's pool. After the Lazdowskis spent several hours cleaning up debris and repairing their damaged backyard fence, they began their trip to Key West, though much later than expected.

"I'm just looking forward to the beautiful sunset with my husband, a Rum Runner, and getting a great big hug and kiss," Stacy Lazdowski said.

Tom Lindsey, center, of Emerald Towing walks around the pool as a car he just hooked up is pulled out on Friday, June 12, 2009 in the 9600 block Northwest 27th Court, in the Glenview subdivision of Coral Springs. A teenage driver swerving to avoid a cat drove his car into the backyard swimming pool at around 3:30 a.m. The car went through the bushes and a fence and into the pool, police said. The driver, the only person in the vehicle, got out of the car unhurt. . (Jim Donnelly, Correspondent / June 12, 2009)

No one was hurt in the crash, which occurred at 3:30 a.m. in the 9600 block of Northwest 27th Court.

Stacy Lazdowski said she woke up from hearing the loud crash and squealing. She said her immediate concern was everyone's well-being. She checked inside her house and found no one was hurt, including her 22-year-old pregnant daughter. She then rushed outside and found the driver had exited his car uninjured.

The driver, whose name wasn't released by police, told police he swerved from the road to avoid a cat and wasn't given a citation, police Sgt. Joe McHugh said. Under department policy, officers don't issue traffic citations when no one files a complaint and no one is injured, McHugh said.

A tow truck arrived and removed the car from the Lazdowski family's pool two hours later.

Robert Lazdowski estimated repairing a cement side of the pool would cost about $40,000, which he expected would be paid off by his homeowners insurance and the driver's insurer.

Just before they left their home, Stacy Lazdowski said: "We were supposed to be parasailing by now."
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
    George Bernard Shaw
