Hello and Good morning first of all...
Did anyone here saw MTV's rock weekend, Testimony of Rock:20 years of rock. I saw it and in the last segment they ask Who's to blame for the music of today?, meaning the crappy Pop sissy music we hear in the radio,MTV and anywhere else that they played all that crap.
And that got me thinking so I made a list on who's fault it is...
1.Van Halen has not realese a new "GOOD" album in three years.
2.Van Halen/David Lee Roth need to reunite.
    3.MTV is a sell out.
    4.Aerosmith is a sell out.
    5.NAPSTER
6.The new bands of today and the fusion of Rap/Rock is played out. Need to go back to basics.
7.Where in God's name is Alice in Chains?
    8.Where is Pearl Jam?
9.They need to bring back HeadBangers Ball.
10.Get rid of TRL, MTV needs to bring back Music. That M stand for music the last time I check.
11.The boy band syndrome has gone way out of control.
    12.Too many package tours...
    13.Metallica
    14.The split of Soundgarden.
    15.Rage against the machine
    16.Age
    17.Us
18.All the cool band are getting old.
    19.Carson Daly
    20.VH1's Where are they now!

So, Who do you think is to blame?
P.S. Remember, this is just my personal opinion, so be cool Ok

Napster isn't to blame at all. It's one way that kids who are drowning in all the pop music can expand their horizons with spending a dime.

Ed and Al's inability to tell Warner Bros. to piss off and do what they want musically.

No 'one' person caused the state of music today, it all comes down to business and what sells. 'Popular' has never meant what is the best musically, or creatively, or the best guitar chops, it has always been about money. I remember in my youth everything was guitar and just good ole rock 'n' roll, the radio played Boston, Styx, Kiss, and yes Van Halen and Magnum P.I. was the hottest show going, well Dallas too. They were what was selling back then. Times have changed. Music has changed, well, what is 'Popular' music has changed. And I am afraid to say that really the cycle is still the same, 'popular' music is always geared to the young. When Van Halen was in their hey day, with Roth and with Hagar (5150) most of us here were young and it was the 'hip' thing, dare I say this, but they were kinda like what the 'boy bands' of today are.

No, from a business standpoint music really hasn't changed, we have just gotten older!

    Now I'm deppresed!!!
And here I thougth that at 28, I'm still fell like 18 and now i feel old...
    Man, What a bummer!!

It's all very true, we are older, but that doesn't mean we can still rock and kick ass!
All those "old" bands can still, even in their bad days kick those pompous brat pop stars in their royal ass, without missing a beat. The music business have chance but we ain't.
The cycle is coming back to our direction, and we are not going down without a good clean figth.

I hate being a part of today's youth. So many teens don't know anything about good music and spend money on Eminem and other shitty retards. I wish I would have been this age in the mid 70's, seeing all my favorite bands in concert. But no, this is what I get.

    1) EGOS

    2) Alcohol

    3) Drugs

    4) piss poor management decisions

    5) Experimenting with music on VH3 (a big no-no to do with a new singer)

    6) Bowing to WB and going on MTV awards with Dave in 96'

    7) Doing "Best Of" album with Dave. (should have just done a whole new album)

    8) Ed's cancer scare

    9) The band for not just saying what their intentions are now.

    10) Us die hard fans. We are just killing ourselves over the fact that we haven't gotten anything new from VH in 3 years. Come on guy/gals, they are only a rock band.
    Isn't there more to life?

Ah never mind, what was I thinking?

They are the best fucking rock & roll band, and one of the most influential groups in music history.
