Nice job finding something rare like that but what the hell was it?? I didn't hear a single recognizable note from any songs.

I'm not saying that's not Ed's playing on the track, but I don't think what you see him playing with what you hear is the same...his fret work doesn't match anything in regards to what is heard...

It is Eddie playing on this track. You don't recognize it because it's one track from the Wild Life score raw outtakes - although I believe this piece of music made it into the movie. It's been a while since I've seen it so I'm not sure. If it had been any number of other tracks from the score, you would have recognized lots of riffs that came out later -- AFU, Good Enough, Get Up, Right Now . . . maybe more. All of the music has a distinct 5150 era sound - much like the 5150 album outtakes boot that many people have.
Even though the movie came out in Sept. of '84, the music sounds less like the '84 album than the upcoming 5150 album- since 1984 was recorded in '83. Eddie had already changed his sound to the overprocessed 5150 tone by the time he recorded this.
Clearly it's been added to the video. None of the timecoded 1984 video footage like this has any audio. Good choice. I always thought this was one of the more interesting riffs Eddie recorded for the Wild Life that never made it to an album.

I don't know why but it looks like his noodling at the beginning and then it goes into the intro to "Top Jimmy"...look close, harmonics at the 12th frets, then 7th (his left hand fingers lightly touch the strings hence the idea of the harmonics), then quick pull offs between frets 3 and 5 on the lower strings....he plays tat a couple of times and then he plays the beginning of the main verse riff right at the end of the video.
If you compare it to the tabs for the song, it's really really close. I think it's Top Jimmy.Last edited by Berseker; 05.05.07 at 07:32 PM.

It's not from a Michael Jackson special. If it was, we would have seen it twenty years ago. It's Eddie in 5150.
It's from from a bunch of outtakes that the band filmed in 1984 for music videos. Much of the footage was used in the Panama video. Lots of it wasn't used at all.
Here's more raw footage from the same source, also with an overdubbed soundtrack. This isn't from a Michael Jackson special either.

Found a cool clip from what seems to be a soundcheck... obviously during the sammy years because you can hear him talking the whole time while Ed is just ripping through the Women In Love intro. If only friggin Sam would shut his mouth for 5 seconds so we could enjoy Ed's playing haha.

The Ed on the double neck Kramer footage is from a popular bootleg called Rape the Vaults Part Two and features various out takes from the Jump video. This other link is from Part One, Panama vid out takes.
Both had various VH music added by the author of the vids (Rat Bastard).
Hope it helps.
