No-one is making fun of you. Gators are alligators, and with the drought situation currently affecting the area, they are coming closer to human occupied territory, as the swampland dries out, explaining muffdiver's warning.

"Gators" also is the nickname of a championship college football team, along with the more local "hurricanes". One should not be a fan of both, yet for some reason, people that never even attended either school claim to be fans in this area.

Actually, I was just kiddin' about the whole gator thing,didn't know they were getting closer to people..

I just remember golfing down there and my buddies ball went in the shallows of a big pond,and when we got up there the sign said "Do not retrieve lost balls due to gators in the pond!" And some guy working there says..."I get ball 20 dolla..20 dolla get you lotta ball.." So we gave him 20 bucks and he went and got a shitload of balls for us ,and you could see the gator heads on the top of the water too.....Thought we were gonna be witness to a chow session for a while there...Honest, true story,guy walked right in there....

thanks for that, it explains a couple of things.
to be honest i dont really mind being made fun of anyways i got pretty think skin (i hope this doesnt open the floodgates).
ive been over once b4 but that was like 15yrs ago and all i did was go to disney and buy a couple of guitars...you have no idea how much cheaper they are over there compaired to here.
