Which Band Would You See?
Friday night I'm going to the first night of the Beale Street Music Festival here in Memphis. This is a pretty big festival with four stages spread out over several acres right next to the river. Anyway, headlining the two big stages that night are Iggy & The Stooges and the Allman Brothers Band. They both go on at exactly the same time. I'm torn as to which band to see. I love the Stooges and that whole era, MC5, The Ramones, etc. But I really dig the Allmans and they always put on a killer show. However, I've seen them probably a dozen times over the years and of course, never seen the Stooges. Which band would you see?

The Stooges.
The Allmans are on tour every year, you can catch them next time around. Who knows how long the Stooges will be touring?

It's unlikely the Stooges will play a lot in the future after this reunion. The Allman Brothers will tour as long as they can. There it is...
Hey, I took myself on a driving trip down to Memphis a few years ago. I love your town!

I don't know, folks, Greg isn't getting any younger. But if you've seen the Brothers several times, maybe the Stooges is the way to go. But what if they suck? You already know the Allmans will put on a great show 97% of the time. So do you go with a winner, or take a chance on the unknown? On one hand, something new would be intriguing. And really, how different will "Melissa" or "Revival" be this year? On the other hand, maybe Iggy rediscovers the pursuit of the ultimate buzz and shows up slammed. Screw it, maybe the safe bet is to stay home and listen to boots.
I wonder how many VH fans passed on going to the '84 tour...."What the heck, I'll see 'em next year."
I'm just messing around here. Whatever you do, be decisive. And let us know. Enjoy it either way.

I would see the Allman Brothers because I have never seen them.
But, since you already have why would you want to pass up the Stooges? It won't come around again.

Just wanted to report that I ended up going with the Stooges, and I think it was the right choice. They friggin' rocked, Iggy was like a manic punk shamen all night. I went with a friend who didn't really know too much about Iggy or the Stooges. He was blown away! During "No Fun", Iggy said something about being tired of all the formality or something like that and screamed "tear down the barriers, tear down the barriers" and the four foot gap between the crowd and the stage disappeared as the security guards took down a small section of barracades and about a hundred people were let up on stage all in one big rush. These guys were up there for a good five minutes or so going insane with Iggy in the middle of it. This was all going on while the band continued to play. Iggy even handed the mic over a few times and let people in the crowd do the lead vocal. I've got to say that was one of the coolest rock & roll moments I've ever seen. Iggy was down in the crowd several times as well, for almost half the show in total probably. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
I'm sure it helped that I was on my tenth or eleventh beer by the time they hit the stage, but they kicked ass. Its hard to believe that Iggy is in his 60's, if you didn't know that, you'd probably think he was in his 40's. The guy just never stops. They played for nearly two hours and Iggy never stopped giving 150%! If you get a chance to see them, do it, you won't be disappointed!

He didn't switch his stance until year 4. For 3 years we were told there was no border crisis. I know people here said "ehhh there is no issue. Just that COVID is over so people now feel safe...
