Edwards 1966 Teisco Del Ret Found???

Hey guys, this is my first post so go easy on me. I have acquired a vintage Teisco just like the one had when he has a kid. I have been searching on e-bay for years to find one. This one is kind of interesting; it came out of Burbank, That’s like 10 miles from Pasadena.

It is also very hard to find them with the same headstock Ed had. There were many variations on this guitar, headstocks ECT. This has all of the right features. Plus it came with the stock black alligator case.

One thing it came with was a very old guitar strap. It is adjusted really high and is an old Bobby Lee strap from the 60's. It matches the one on Ed's guitar, also the tone and volume knobs are twitched and one indicator is missing...just like Eds.

The serial number is 001 and it is in really fine shape. It has a ding in the same place on the headstock. It has the same sunburst as well. I know Ed has one of these and I heard it was not his original. Wouldn’t it be cool if this was his guitar.

I honestly feel that there is a possibility this is THE guitar.

it looks alike but I don't think it's the exact same one, I do think that Ed would love to have that guitar.
He has a similar one, that he used on the Finish What Ya Started video, which I think he bought cause it was like his Teisco del Rey

Not a fuckin chance in hell that this is Ed's. First you say it is in great shape. Nothing Edward has or did have or will have is in good shape. This is the same guy that once saw Michael Anthony playing a new bass and walked over and keyed the fuck out of it cause it was "too clean and new." Second you talk of the strap? Ed's strap would too be completely fucked up with all types of tape etc. Finally we all know he doesn't even use a case half the time and if he did it would likely be spray painted and have busted latches.From an interview in an old guitar world the writer noted that upon getting in the Jeep with Ed he noticed the franky was flying all over the back of the Jeep with no case whatsoever while driving around town!The penultimate " TINKERER" just can't help himself! Case solved!

One way or the other you have a very cool old guitar. It's a cool thing to own, you could give it as a gift to Ed, or you could sell it to me!

That said, its pretty harmless if you can afford it!

Hey Bosstone...you could always send a letter to Eddie with a pic and ask him if it is his. You never know, if you enclose a self-addressed return envelop with a stamp, you might get a reply. I bet he would want to buy it.

Still, I also doubt it is his. Even if it wasn't beat up, it would still have a lot of wear on the fretboard. Eddie got as good as he is by practicing all day long in his bedroom.

We've got a couple of used Teisco Del Rays in the music store right now. I'm tempted to buy one. Most of my guitars are really "normal." I don't own any weird old ones.

How do YOU know what he did to that particular guitar......You're just assuming shit....
