I saw them on that tour and they kicked ass, and I wasn't the only one who thought so. They got a great reaction from the crowd. Thunder in the East is still one of my favorite records from the 80's.

Yeah, cool songs, but that isn't Loudness. That's EZO.

    Loudness rocks. Great band.

Those songs were actually done originally by EZO, another Japanese heavy metal band who's debut English language album was produced by Gene Simmons and is highly recommended if you can find it (it has only been available on cd in Japan).

You may get the Loudness connection because EZO's singer actually fronted Loudness for a few years and they played at least "House" fairly regularly in their live set around '99 - '01.

I saw Loudness a few times, once around '84 during their US debut at a music industry showcase gig at the Country Club in Reseda, CA which was absolutely the loudest fucking show I've ever seen in a club. They actually brought in their own arena PA sound system from Japan and literally had people wincing in pain from the volume. It was pretty funny watching suit n' tie record company execs stuffing drink napkins in their ears.

I also saw them open for Motley Crue during their Theater of Pain tour in '85. They unfortunately did not go over well due to the singer's poor English.

Here is a live video that I uploaded onto YouTube months ago from one of literally dozens of officially released concert dvds of the band available in Japan of one of their best early songs, "Road Racer:"

You can see a *lot* of '80 - '81 era Van Halen influence in the band.

Akira Takasaki was phenomenal. His work was always amazing. But like so
many of the bands of that era, the singer sucked and so did most of the songs.
