Joanna Cassidy re-shot some stuff with Scott a while back. I hope he doesn't pull a George Lucas...

Christ, me too. My favorite movie of all time.

Though I still think the flick was better with the Deckard narrative in its original theatrical release form.

I'd be curious to see it. The narrative was only there AFTER the film was "finished" because the studio execs demanded it. I *do* think Ridley Scott needs to be kept "in-check" at times, so maybe they were right. The two versions of the film imply very different things for Deckard.

The film was very boring for me at times, but I'd love to see a re-edited and re-shot version. I think it has potential to be something that movie channels show over & over, instead of just once every 5 years.

I don't know - I'm a big fan of once something's published, that should be it. I mean, you can go from album to 8-track to cassette to CD, but don't change what's there. Wouldn't want Mark Twain rewriting "Huckleberry Finn", either. But then there's the other side of the arguement where a director is forced to release a film in a way that's not what he envisioned due to studio pressure. Ozzy can't go back and say he didn't intend to record his first two albums with Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake without looking like a schumck, but it's certainly understandable when a director says "the studio made me do it". But I think it would be better to use existing footage to create the original vision, not having an actress who's now 25 years older reshoot her scenes. Can't imagine where he's going with that.

As for the existing "Director's Cut" - since there is no commentary on the disc (that I recall), should've put the narration there and given the viewer the choice of turning it on or off.

Oh I hope they don't mess with the original too much. This is my favorite movie ever! I would like to see them make the second one into a movie. Don't F another one up!

Is that right? Bitchin'. At last.

Fuck that unicorn dream - Deckard is a replicant shit. Even in Philip Dick's book, it's purposefully vague as to whether Rick is an android himself. Man's humanity/inhumanity in a dark future techno-society, blah blah blah. I think the concept is covered with Roy's quest for meaning and existence, so I dunno why Dick OR Scott wanted to explore it further with the hero as well as the 'villain.'

In its original cinematic form, no, Rick isn't. The way it should be.

Okay so maybe I should have bought that Directors Cut on sale for 7 bucks, now I'll have no excuse for not getting the 5-disk thing. That's one of my three life-changing movies. It would fit well next to my 12 DVD Lord of the Rings boxset

Star Wars was my number one and Bladerunner was close number 2 followed closely by Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

I was just at the right age where those movies were hugely influential to me and when I heard that Return of the Jedi was the last Star Wars movie for a while I was like WTF!

Glad to see they are FINALLY getting these out, I will definitely own the 5 disc set!!!

It's a big thing to be at the right age when discovering such epic stuff, I've no idea if I'd even be into War of the Ring trillogy if it wasn't for the first Ralph Bakshi's 1977 movie when I was like 11-12. That's why I was a little bit like WTF when I finally got to seeing Star Wars last year, took me abit longer to get over 'kids flick' side of it.

With Blade Runner it was a little bit different. I had been a 'fan' of the story for a couple of years from just reading it's treatment/synopsis before I had a chance to even watch the picture.
