Default British Harrier Pilots Are Crazy

They have some kind of exchange policy in place where we (the US) send one of our pilots over to serve in a British squadron and they do the same for us. Anyway, these dudes that come over are freak'n crazy, they will do anything with that aircraft (it can do a lot).

Here is a youtube video of a LOW flying Harrier, and I mean low.

i know a few harrier pilots, they're all nutters.
i have seen them fly lower, but i tell you what they were always there when we needed them, same goes out to your apache crews.
infact the comeradery displayed by both nations in the recent troubles in iraq and afganistan is an example to the rest of the world.

I spent 5 years in VMA-214 (Harrier squadron) and that first video still shocked me. I have never seen anybody fly that low and that fast. You know whats really crazy, the British have a better mishap rate then the Marine Corps (as far as the Harrier is concerned).

    That was fuckin' amazing.

But then, isn't any Harrier pilot out of his mind?

the usual problem with the harrier is what we brits refer to as the "pop stall" whereby the harrier is hovering ready to land and hot air is being blown back up from the ground straight back into the air intake, now the rolls royce engines these birds are fitted with DONT like hot air and this causes them to stall (quite violently....with a loud "pop" hence the name) and the aircraft falls the rest of the way to the earth, also theres tons of accidents incured during hovers mainly coz the damn things are so hard to control.
while in the gulf though i did see a pair of R..A.F. tornado's skimming the ground (and i mean skimming) and we reconed their speed to be in exess of 600mph (almost supersonic) and boy was that a rush....fuckin loud too.

on a different note...but still with aviation checkout how insane the russians are....the manouvre this guy pulls off in an su-32 is what i would consider "insane" due to the HIGH g's encountered and the fact its probably the only aircraft in the world that can do it...the manouvre im talking about starts at around 1.55....keep watching coz later they do what they call "the cobra"

    F-22:

Has the same "thrust vectoring" capabilities as the Russian fighter that Tommy mentioned.

    Here is another video:

This country can still build some amazing stuff.

dont think im getting down on the f-22, but the russians were the firts to perfect the thrust vectoring idea (with the exeption of the harrier but thats a different aplication) they first used it on an su-27 flanker and then developed it from there, although funding has always been an issue.

    great clips though

check this one out double loop while stalling and moving backwards, then a flat spin....in a jet!!!

Yup, I know. Most Americans know the F-22 is a new aircraft (since we dont have any operational squadrons yet) so it's well known the Russians perfected the technology first. It's still an aircraft that is unmatched in the world today.

Russia has some amazing aircraft and outstanding pilots (their mishap rate is really high though).
