Usually treatment like that is followed up by going to daily AA meetings- or what they call 90 in 90 - 90 meetings in 90 days. Also his counselor I'm sure made a detailed countinuing treatment planned that will consist of at least weekly sessions with an addiction specialist and other activities to help keep him on the straight and narrow. Its a tough trip I wish him the best

Being in Europe is frustrating itself (you know: i've been able to catch VH live only once and who knows when i'll be able again), now this situation!

It is different for everyone. I smoked for 20 years- started in 8th grade, woke up one morning and decided to stop. No problem and no cravings after about the first 24 hours. Once you make up your mind to do something it is usually pretty easy to do it. I think the difficulty for most people is the fact they don't want to stop smoking or drinking but rather they are being forced to do so.

The mind is a very powerful resource and if you use it the right way it can make things like stopping a habit very easy. The other option is to go through months and months of rehab and meetings and the such I guess it just depends on what works best for the individual.

Part of the twelve step process is making amends. I think we all know of several people who will get either visits or a phone call from Ed. It's not about who will be in the band, not now. That issue will work itself out further down the road.

The best thing the fan base can do right now is be patient and supportive. You can count on VH returning, but don't think beyond that.
