There doesn't seem to be a lot of reliable info out there yet. Coroner is reporting one death, but nobody is confirming that it's the pilot. A witness said the plane slammed into a tree.

All CNN was showing was Google Earth views of the area, and of course those aren't live pictures by any means. Hard to believe there's no live cameras anywhere near a Blue Angels show, even under normal conditions. Usually they like to show their stunts on the local news.

    Unbelievable...

one of the few reasons to auctually put up watching the Dreams promo video, is to watch the Blue Angels, Amazing Group of guys, One mistake and they're all dead, But its a beautiful site and I have a deep respect for those men.

(for all the roth fans like myself, just mute the video and put Jump, Panama or something on blast, rather than put up with The ballad..)

Radio just reported that the pilot is dead, probably killed on impact. Plane broke up and pieces were thrown into houses, catching at least one on fire.

Considering the way these guys fly, it just seems sickly ironic that they would slam into a tree, of all things......

I've probably been to 10 air shows since I was a kid....love the Blue Angels. Sure this has happened before, but it's still always shocking because you just don't expect any of these guys to crash. They're all such brilliant pilots.

Yeah, it was the pilot who died. That's quite terrible. Unfortunately with the type of flying they do, catastrophe is prone to happen every several years. Those guys really are the best of the best, though; and the shows they do can be really exciting and inspiring (just like the "Dreams" video). I hope the pilot's family and the team will be able to cope.

Really sad to hear this news. The Thunderbirds are here in Shreveport, at Barksdale Air Force Base. They flew in a show yesterday and they fly 1 today. The news of the Blue Angel Crash was announced shortly after their show was complete.

It's ironic because durning yesterday's show here, Thunderbird #2 had to declare an emergency and was forced to land, because it had collided with some type of bird, in flight. The team all split off and gave Thunderbird 2 room to gain some alt, so "SHE" could get her F-16 back on the ground safely.
She landed without incident, and the "Air Boss" decided that the show could go on with 5 Jets.

Anyways, the team handled this problem professionally, and kept the show going. Once they landed, the whole team came up to show center, Thunderbird 1 made a annoucement that he was sorry that the show had this minor mishap, but did tell us that the Thunderbird 2 pilot was ok. He didn't really explain if the jet was damaged, or the engine sucked the bird in, however he did say a replacement jet would be flown in and the show "For Today" would have all 6 jets in the show.

Love what these men and women do. God be with the family of the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds and every team that put it out there on the line.

My brother-in-laws parents were there & had just left about 5 minutes before the crash. Right as they cleared the barricade to the base all the emergency workers started showing up. I'm grieved for the pilot & his family & friends but glad no civilians were seriously injured.

The family WERE watching? That's "his family WAS there watching." I see people talking this way a lot now. Strange.

Anyway, that was a beautiful plane. I've been to one airshow in my life and was always afraid to go because I don't wanna witness something like that. Has to be a horrid site.
