Teacher Allegedly Had Oral Sex With Girl At School

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News broke the story of an Orange County teacher allegedly caught having sex with a student at school. Thursday, disturbing new details were uncovered as well as details on the punishment the teacher and the student now face.

Eyewitness News learned it was all happening during school hours. The teacher involved has now resigned, after investigators said she was caught in the classroom.

In Allison Reopel's resignation letter, she doesn't admit to doing anything wrong but said she no longer wanted to work for Orange County. The 25-year-old taught social studies for two years at Oak Ridge High School, but not anymore.

The former soccer and softball coach is accused of the unthinkable, having sex with a female student on campus during school hours.

"It's sickening," said Tito Velasquez.

Velasquez's son goes to Oak Ridge. He's friends with the 18-year-old student involved and his father wants her expelled.

"I don't want her around my son. From my understanding, she is bragging about it. She is enjoying the attention this is getting," Velasquez said.

Orange County Schools aren't enjoying the attention at all

"It's the ultimate violation of trust," said Frank Kruppenbacher, the school district's attorney. "Consensual or not, it is an offense that scars everybody that cares about kids."

A computer tech said they walked in on Reopel and the female student having sex last Thursday. Reopel was suspended the next day and resigned a week later.

Even though the student is 18 years old, the Orange County Sheriffs Office is investigating, trying to determine if the teacher committed a crime, because she's in position of authority.

"Regardless of age, it should be a crime," Kruppenbacher said. "You become no less vulnerable when you are 18 than when you are 17 or 19."

Velasquez agrees and he thinks all teachers need a refresher course on ethics.

"Now, I'm nervous of every single teacher that is working at any school," he said.

Kruppenbacher said he will have the State Attorney's Office review the case. The superintendent is still trying to decide if he will allow the student to finish the year at Oak Ridge.

Was this stuff going on 20 years ago and we just didn't know, or has something happened in the last decade or so to provoke all this behavior? It seems there's a new case every week.

An 18 year old knows what she's doin'.....It didn't say she was tied up,or raped or anything....
I think they shoulda taken it home though for sure....

Of course there is probably no way to accurately do a study to determine if this is happening more now or not, but my guess is it's happening either the same amount or less than it was years ago. We hear about it more now because: a) Now more than ever we in our culture are being encouraged to talk about incidences like this one and not hide it for fear of what might happen, b) We are in the age of instant communication and endless media outlets; this is a big "draw" story, and it will travel the full circuit in no time.

I still really liked the story of the two HOT NFL cheerleaders from a couple of years ago.

Exactly, Andrew, I agree, moreso with your 2nd point. This media age of instant news is constantly looking for stories, since news stories travel so rapidly, we are always in need of something new.
This new story, "with a twist," is just piling on to a hot topic: student-teacher sex stories.

Yes indeed it was going on back then. We had a lady teacher that was frequented by several young students at her house and really it was not the tragedy it is today. She absolutely dug the Police too! I remember many a time she would drag the VCR into the classroom and we would watch recorded Police recordings.
