Do the remastered DLR discs sound any better on an average system or do you need a good stereo to notice any appreciable difference. Just wanted to ask fellow linkers their honest opinion. Didnt want to waste my hard earned cash. thanks in advance

They're louder, clearer, and the bottom end is boosted.
Some discs are better (DD, VH2) than others (FW, 1984)."Just once I'd like to do the right thing and not get punished for it."

Achievements:
If you play the Dave-era discs quite a bit, the remasters are money well spent. There's a noticable difference in the quality on all but the crappiest of stereo sytems.

When I put "1984" (the song) in the CD player about a year ago, I was blown away by the difference in dynamic range. If you have a CD player and receiver with HDCD, then you REALLY notice a difference. But even on a less-than-amazing difference, it's a considerable difference.
DIVER DOWN was originally mixed with a little bit less low end than required, and this of course continues, but at least it sounds a lot better."I had a girl beating on my hotel door all night...She was screaming, crying. Finally, I said, 'What the hell'...and I let her out!"- DLR

The sound quality is definately improved in the remasters! I would buy one and see if I thought it was worth the money before I bought the rest though. It's pretty expensive to buy all six of them.

In Canada, you can usually find each of them for 10.99, which is maybe 7.00 U.S., so it's not that bad. Depends where you go.

When I bought all of them a few weeks ago I noticed a huge difference on my stereo. So they should sound better no matter what sound system you have.
