Guitar neck out of sync? (HELP)

It seems as though my guitar neck isn't adjusted in the right position and it sounds out of pitch when holding frets. Striking the e and B strings while holding down the 12th fret brings out a higher pitch compared to striking the same strings through harmonic picking. When I perfectly tune my guitar, striking some frets will bring an inappropriate pitch. Do I need to readjust the neck or start from the beginning by filling in the old holes and drilling new ones?

    Suggestions please, thanks!

I don't think there's anything wrong with your neck it's just that you need to have the guitar set up again and correctly set the intonation. In other words, it's more than likely the saddles on your bridge / tailpiece have slipped and are either too far forward or too far back.

Here's a bit of a primer I dug up on how to achieve that:

If you don't feel comfortable trying it yourself, you can always take it to the local music shop and let one of the pros do it for you - it's a pretty cheap procedure and while they're at it, they'll check out the rest of the guitar for any other problems...

Worked for me anyway. I still have colleagues asking me what it is like to fuck a green womanoid with seventeen breasts.

Sounds like an intonation problem to me. Follow Six's instrutions, above, or have a pro fix it. But for the love of god, DON'T DRILL ANY HOLES!

If it's sharp at the harmonic and fretted note, tighten the saddle screw. If it's flat, loosen the saddle screw. You want to increase string length when sharp and decrease string length when flat. This is an easy fix when using non locking tremolo/bridge. Always check intonation in the playing position. It does no good to do it with guitar it's back.

Let me know if you need more help.

An easy way to remember this is flat = forward.
