Default Shouldve been a live album after "VH3"

Does anyone wish they had recorded and released a live album on the VH3 tour?
Think about it. The setlist was brilliant, apart from the 3 tunes. Romeo Delight, I'm the one, Dance the night away, and Gary sang them pretty good.
I saw that tour here in Oz. Even though Garys stage antics are'nt so cool, he still gave a fair effort and without him, those songs would'nt of been played.

This might just aswell be the last great setlist and the last we hear of those songs, if a reunion dont take place. LOL
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

A live album might have helped but I think this incarnation was doomed from the start. Although, I did give it a chance was hoping that the 2nd album would've been better than the first.

It's too bad the followup never saw the finish line but WB wanted a big hit like 'Jump'.

if i remember correctly there was a live album set for release called "Live in Pittsburgh" but it was scrapped. Every now and then when im doing a random search for VH collectibles i come across the title but it always says "not available"...

I think they were going to, as they had that one show on the radio. Usually when that happened, (IIRC) some sort of a live release followed. They proshot on the radio sounds incredible.

    Blecch. Van Halen live albums.

Rather have a studio LP every time over retreads of previously released material.

there's plenty of boots available from that tour... don't know that it would've sold well as an official release, which is probably what prevented it from going forward, given the sales of 3...

It would have been sad on a few levels had VHIII released a live album after one studio album together.

Exactly Menlow and VS. Not to mention they released LRHRN only a few years before.

Yeah, they should have made a live album......

They should have taken the instrumental performances from the VDIII tour, and mixed them with vocal tracks from Dave's '99 tour.

Even though all 4 of them weren't on the same stage, it would probably be more of an authentic "live" album than most that are released (i.e. any Ozzy Osbourne "live" album with a completely studio overdubbed vocal)

All the soundboard recordings from that tour allowed me to compile my own live album, they're amazing quality. They should have released it though, even some people who didn't like 3 would've bought it because of the classics on it. Kind of a shame, really.

I'd like to hear that compilation, my friend, considering how much I do love the III Tour.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda... all the stuff VH should have done after 1998...

Sure, they sounded great in '98, and they had a good part of a new album done when Cherone left, but whatta ya gonna do?

That's one of the things that would have been sad though, that they needed to drum up interest by releasing a live album filled with old songs by different singers. Contrast that with LWAN, also released after one studio album, which stood on the merits of the new singer and album and didn't need to rely on past Dave hits to be successful.

Other levels on which its sad would include, but aren't limited to, Gary Cherone singing, the last time Ed would sound good, the fact most people would skip the songs they were touring to support, the fact that it would be the last time many of those songs would be done live, that you would have an official live release with Gary but not Dave....so sad in so many ways.

here's how I see it. When they were leading up to III everyone in the VH camp was saying "just wait until you hear it" then people heard it and it didn't exactly set the world on fire. Then if you remember right people were saying "wait until you see them on Live at the 10 Spot on MTV".."Ed spent 2 or 3 days mixing this, it's gonna be great" and it didn't do jack for them. then it was wait until they tour!! and again...nothing. A live album would've done the same thing. Yeah, it was cool to hear Meanstreets and Romeo Delight again but really..I kinda cringe when I listen to it now and it's soundboard and radio broadcast stuff cause Gary just doesn't fit...
