Well, it must be fun to know you'll never serve in power again and thus you can say whatever the fuck you want.
Man, I hope Bush shows up to a press conference in his bathrobe and tells Nancy Pelosi to blow him.

Maybe Sharpton and Jackson will head over there and stay awhile. We could use a breather from those two nitwits.

Black culture isn't the cause, but the hip-hop portion of it sure isn't helping.

OK, I just read the article.
I don't understand the logic behind "it is not our fault we are killing people, so please send us more money".
My parents grew up poorer than anybody living in England at these times, and yet they didn't kill anybody, worked through college and made something of themselves. Wow, what a thought. Pull yourself up and not waiting for the government to help you out.
I dare anyone in England to say they had it any tougher than my father growing up. Uneducated parents, no running water, no heat besides what you cut down and burn. No shoes, if you wanted a bath you went to the creek, carried the water back up to the house, started a fire, got yourself some hot water and then you had your bath. And yet he somehow managed to turn himself into a PhD.If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

The title of this thread is very misleading. I'm not a big fan of Tony Blair (I think he's a slimy git, in fact) but the article itself takes the points out of context. He's talking specifically about a series of black-on-black killings over recent months, and the culture of violence that exists within some groups of youths in the black community, not black culture in general.
I looked at the title of this thread and though, what? How come this isn't all over the news today? On reading the article, it's clear why - it's a non-story about some quotes taken out of context.
If you want to stick it to Tony Blair, believe me, there's plenty of other ammunition out there.HERE AND GONE by Haylen Beck (Stuart Neville writing as...) - "It doesn't get better than this." - Lee Child, "Highly recommended." - Harlan Coben, "Cancel all your plans and settle in for the ride." - Ruth Ware, "This is a book that lives up to the buzz." - Alafair Burke

So true. And Blair, for once in his miserable life, has said something that needed to be said. It is not racist to say that there is a massive crime problem within sections of the black community. It is a fact.
There is a also a gang problem in sections of the white and asian communities too. His comments have come after a recent spate of high prifile teenage kilings in London so he would surely have been commenting with these in mind.
His hypocrisy about being too pc is a little ripe, since he is a master of this crime, but this has to be addressed head on with no mincing words.
Fact: A large section of the black youth community carries deadly weapons and they are starting to use them with greater frequency.
A lot of these youngsters have no true male role models so they look upto the gangster rap icons. Suddenly hanging on a street corner isn't boring anymore. It's exciting and dangerous and gives them a sense of belonging and pride. Misplaced as all of this is, it is probably a lot more appealing to them than going home and being beaten by your alcoholic step father.
My Auntie, born and bred in Tottenham, London vowed she would never move away from the city she loves. At age 75, she did just that. Said she just couldn't take it anymore.
When we finally accept these problems are very real then perhaps we can start trying to find honest solutions, whatever those are.
I miss the England I enjoyed as a child.

Very impressive story. Much admiration for a man who by all accounts came form squalor and became a PhD. Mad respect.
