    A "plea" to Ed!

    Ed~

You have given us many years of great music! You owe the public nothing! If you choose to never play a note again, that would be fine with me. You have paid your "dues" .. time and time again by pleasing the fans with decades of music! I will be turning 40 this year .. and have seen countless shows. While I do feel bad for the younger fans, who never had a chance .. you still owe nobody anything! (how long was the last Zep show? Even I was young)

Q104 here in New York was talking about a Led Zep Reunion throughout the years, (even last week) and Robert Plant has always declined .. and no, not because Bonham is gone .. its because he wants the "legacy" of the "magic" they had when the were at there best!

I know a lot of fans here on the site will disagree, but why pressure anyone to do something when they are not physically or have a "healthy state of mind"! .. life first guys .. than music!

Too be quite frank .. its almost like we, the fans, are consumers of a product that we never want to end ... well, think about products you have bought in the past .. are most still around? I have been in love with so many bands throughout my 40 years .. and I can only count the ones still playing on one hand.

In ending .. Ed, if you ever read these sites.. there is no pressure from at least one of your biggest fans! "Be Healthy" .. "Have Fun" .. and take as many compliments about your guitar playing as you could. Go out with the "class" that you deserve PAGE! HENDRIX! VAN HALEN!

Mods .. please dont delete .. Heres a thread about something very positive! I think we all need a "dose" of it.

And finally .. take this with you and think about it. When Clapton had all his "Demons" .. the internet was not even around. People did not have the chance to slam somebody when they were down! And yes .. he did recover fine... and make more music, but.. people on the websites almost demanding someone to produce something, is just wrong!

Nobody is a "Judge and Jury" .. just let the man do what he needs to do. Is your time here complaning just as valuable as the music we still love by the band? "Be Upset .. Take it to the Grave" ... but heres one fan that still loves the music Van Halen has done .. be it now, or never more.

Ed .. Enjoy and Be Happy .. Nothing more, Nothing less.
    James

Like a tooth paste tube that you can't squeeze anymore paste out of ?

Well! if you cut the the tube open, there's always still one or two brushings worth of paste left in there.

It's also because he wants the "legacy" (hold your fingers up in that little quotation mark thing when saying this out loud) of the "magic" (and again) they had when they were at their best!

Yeah, that Bonham factor is of little consequence.

They will keep going even if only capable of playing with one hand. Not unlike Rick Allen of Def Leppard... lose arm, still play.

Guitar5150 -- Well said. I'm doubtful that Ed will ever be on top of his game again. And I'd rather have the great memories of Ed, rather than hearing and seeing him become ordinary. I'd rather have memories of his genius, than seeing him and coming away disappointed.

If he can regain the magic and wants to tour again, then so be it. But he needs to work on himself first, before thinking about playing publically again.

Like Andrew stated in response to this....Plant wants to hold the memories of Zeppelin and he wants the strength of the music, not to be diminished by a Reunion, to carry on....

Last time I checked...the band disbanded BECAUSE Bonham died....why would not getting a Reunion together be any dis-similar...

But I agree about your thoughts regarding Ed....

Unfortunately, Ed has allready fucked up the image of Van Halen to a horrible low in the last 10 years.

All the fake reunions, firing of Mike, firing of Sam, the 2004 debacle, III, The porno thing, the nasty cracked out pictures, the Hall of Fame. It is endless. To a lot of people, these are their memories of Van Halen. I do believe they need to go out on top with a huge stadium reunion tour with Sam & Dave and Mike and Ed playing like we know he can.

It doesn't have to happen now, but in the next couple of years. After that, let the legacy end.

    (yeah, get better first)
