Out of nowhere....
Ever hear a song you've heard a thousand times and never thought much about it? Then all of the sudden, you hear it for the first time in forever and it really bowls you over? I had one of those a few days ago.
The song-
"The Dreamer" off of the Montrose "Paper Money" album.
What a great tune! It has a certain Balance-like volume of energy to it. I wonder if it has been played live in recent years?

I haven't checked out the setlists from any of the Montrose reunion shows from a few years ago, but they may have done it then.
I get the "rediscovery" thing happening with songs when my students bring them in and want to play them. I have no choice but to listen to the song very closely in order remember/figure them out. Songs I was otherwise completely bored with are suddenly fresh for me again.

Achievements:
For awhile, for no reason at all, I couldn't get enough of Top of the World version off Sam's live album.

The Wabos always did TOTW well. I first saw them do it at a free outdoor show in downtown Minneapolis in '99. There were about 50,000 gathered around outside on a hot July evening, and Sam was saying he really wanted to span his whole career in his live sets. Then he went: "So, Vic... if we were to hit about eight years ago, what are we gonna do?" Vic kicked into TOTW and everyone went nuts.

I'm pretty sure the only song Montrose did when they were with Sam a couple of years ago from Paper Money was The Connection, I could be wrong but that's how I remember it.
I've got a boot of Sam from 97 and he does Not Fade Away and I was rocking that for along time, it's only about 2 minutes long but it's cool as hell. I always love hearing any version of Judgement day and lately I've been really, really into Humans Being...I'm in the minority but I didn't like that song for awhile now I'm really digging it.

Paper Money itself has been huge with me lately, the title track and I've Got The Fire. I also love their cover of Underground.

Give to Live has been on my mind lately. Probably b/c of recent events here at home.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.
Black and Blue vs The Dream Is Over - this one is actually tough - "Black And Blue" all out rips, until Sam opens his gob; "The Dream Is Over" is overall more palatable. Still, I'm going to give the...
